TV Inspired: Jem and The Holograms

Hey guys,

So today is the LAST TV inspired manicure. Not that there won't be more random ones in the future but February is coming to a close and March will be getting rid of a lot of back log, so you can expect a lot of big lengthy posts. And some exciting stuff.

So as this month comes to a close I just wanted to mention that there were a lot of shows that I had planned to do manicures for or that were on my original list, however due to creative differences or whatever reason it didn't work.

For our final manicure we have Jem and the Holograms.
Now originally I missed the boat on watching the TV show while it aired on account of not being born and everything. But I remember renting the videos all the time, and then in 2011 my co-workers and I dressed up as the Misfits for Halloween, That was freakin awesome. I wish I could find the picture.
The Misfits were always my favourite, their songs were better and as a general rule they were obviously just more badass.

For this I used
Nfu Oh - 61, 63, 64, 65, 66
Art Club in Neon Pink, Neon Violet, Yellow, Neon Blue, Neon Orange
Orly Instant Artist in Jet Black, Crisp White

TV Inspired: Rescue Me

Hey guys,

So one more manicure after this one! I won't lie I'm kind of stoked. After a month of really trying to push myself creatively I'm so looking forward to plain old boring manicures for a while!

Our manicure today is Rescue Me,
I love Denis Leary, if you haven't read "Why We Suck" or listened to the Audiobook please do it now. I have it on my ipod and listen to it all the time. I have some really great memories of watching Rescue Me, even though I haven't seen all of the final season yet (there were circumstances... and I just never got around to it)

I love fire manicures (I've done several different ones already) The FDNY insignia on my thumb is kind of weak, as a lame excuse I was under the gun to finish up and go to dinner so I rushed it, you can tell. Whatever the point comes across.

For this I used
Sally Hansen - Black Out
Orly Instant Artist in Fiery Red, Orange Peel, Jet Black
Art Club - Yellow

TV Inspired: My Little Pony

Hey guys,

So there are a few of you who are going to shake your head at me for this one but you should also not be surprised.
Today's manicure is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic I just recently started watching this, having been a huge MLP growing up (I still remember watching My Little Pony on YTV on the weekends) and I watched the MLP Movie more times than I can count, I'm surprised my VHS never crapped out. I've known about the whole Brony thing and such for a while now but hadn't bothered to look into it much. Well I'm glad I finally did, it's super cute. Everyone knows that I'm a 5 year old at heart so yeah love it.

For this I did 5 of the pony's cutie marks... or tried to, I realize my colours are a bit off. I left out Twilight Sparkle just because when it comes down to it, the other 5 were friends before she came along anyways. Fluttershy got the thumb because she's my favourite.

For this I used
China Glaze - Lemon Fizz
Zoya - Yummy
Bed Head - Master Mind
NYX - Sunset Blvd.
OPI - Pink Friday
Art Club in Electric Blue & Yellow
Orly Instant Artist in Crisp White, Fiery Red, True Blue, Leafy Green

TV Inspired: Friends

Hey guys,

Today's manicure comes to you from the show Friends
For years I was never a huge Friends fan then around last Christmas I just randomly decided to watch season one since I had gotten the first four seasons from Chelsea. Well let me tell you it did not take very long to get hooked. I don't know why I never realized how funny it was. And man I love Ross, which pretty much disgusts my friend Jill to no end. Man I just want to snuggle the crap out of him.

So here we have the MagnaDoodle from the back of the guys' door (dude I loved my magnadoodle as a kid, so awesome), the picture frame from the back of the girls' door (it's totally lopsided, sorry!) and the Central Perk logo (with some sketchy text) and the other ones are just latte coloured

For this I used
China Glaze - Cashmere Creme
OPI - Planks A Lot
Zoya - Breezi
NOPI - My Empire... My Rules
Art Club - Yellow
Orly Instant Artist in Crisp White, Jet Black, Leafy Green, Light As A Feather, Lovey Dovey, Fiery Red

TV Inspired: Game Of Thrones

Hey guys,

Today's manicure is Game of Thrones. I fricken love that show! I mean really all I need to say is Khal Drogo, The Hound, and Jon Snow. 3 perfect reasons to watch, Jaime Lannister is pretty hot too, once you get past him being a huge asswipe.

So I basically did four of the main sigils (or I tried... some are a tad abstract) Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, and Baratheon.

For this I used
Nails Inc - Carnaby Street
Essie - Turning Heads Red
Sally Hansen - Black Out
Sephora by OPI - Frankly I Don't Give A-Dam
Layla - Golden Nugget
Art Club - Yellow
Orly Instant Artist in Jet Black, Crisp White, Fiery Red

TV Inspired: White Collar

Hey guys,

I'm typing this while I watch The Lion King and Mufasa just died... ack! Sorry had to get that out of my system. Pretty much anyone who is a Disney fan with sympathize with this.

Today's manicure comes devoted to one of my new favourite shows. This was one my coach Jacquie has been telling me that I have to watch for a long time now. Well I finally did and holy crap! Love it.
White Collar, I wanted to keep this pretty clean and simple because when you see any of the promo material for this show, it more or less is just black, white, blue & Matt Bomer. Perfection.

For this I used
OPI - Step Right Up
Sally Hansen - Black Out
Bed Head - Master Mind
Art Club - Neon Blue
Orly Instant Artist - Blue J

TV Inspired: 2 Broke Girls

Hey guys,

So tonight we have some 2 Broke Girls for you. I really love Kat Dennings and I've had more than one person tell me that her character in the show could be my (fraternal) twin. Also she has a horse in her backyard which is pretty much my dream, except I don't know if Briar would be totally cool with Breezer and Timmi invading her backyard.

I actually really liked how this turned out, the uniforms are kind of wonky and apparently I didn't feel the need to clean up at all after this one, so just look past that.

For this I used

Zoya - Lo
OPI - Step Right Up
Nails Inc - Carnaby Street
Orly - Frisky
Dollish Polish - Girls Rule, Boys Drool
NYX - Dancing Queen
Sparitual - Ice Ice Baby
Art Club in Yellow & Bright Blue
Orly Instant Artist - Crisp White
Quo Instant Artist - Red

TV Inspired: Chuck

Hey guys,
So quick blurb before I get into today's post.
If you haven't noticed already I have posted a link to my stash spreadsheet in the pages above. It's not as detailed as my spreadsheet I keep on my desktop and there really isn't any ryhme or reason to the way I split it up by sheets. I'll probably continually be tweaking this so keep checking. Or don't thats cool too, I promise I won't be mad.
Second is that I have grand plans to make up a few of my own indie polishes, I haven't decided whether I want to make them for mass consumption or not, it'll really depend on how things work out. I already have all my ideas and inspirations in place. To start I'm only making 4 different ones, and I've only gotten enough to make 4 bottles of each (didn't want to get in over my head) So watch for swatches some time in March!
To the polish! Today's manicure is inspired by none other than one of my Top 10 fave shows of all time. Chuck there is just nothing about that show I don't love. It's another one that should have lasted longer, but on the flip-side at least this way it didn't wind up burnt out like so many great shows.

For this I used
Bed Head - Master Mind
Island Girl - "Tarzan"
Essie - Lacquered Up
Orly Instant Artist in Jet Black & Crisp White
Art Club - Yellow
Quo Instant Artist - Red

TV Inspired: Smallville

Hey guys,

Today's TV manicure is: Smallville. Now anyone who knows me knows I am a huge Superman fan, and when Smallville debuted back in 2001 I watched it religiously. Then somewhere around season 6 I lost interest and got tired, not because I didn't still love the characters (okay Chloe drove me nuts) but because I am a terrible victim of mid-season lulls. Those mid-season breaks kill me and I have a tendancy to lose interest. However around season 9 I began watching again, and rewatched all the episodes back from the pilot and re-fell in love and finished the series out through the 10th and final season.

So this manicure showcases the earlier days of Smallville.
We have the Kryptonian symbol etched in the wall of the cave, the Smallville High colours, and of course Kryptonite.

For this I used
China Glaze - Stone Cold
NYX - Blood
Nails Inc - Carnaby Street
piCture pOlish - Kryptonite
Art Club - Yellow
Quo Instant Artist - Platinum Glitter

Gold Jelly Sandwich

Hey guys,

So one of my favourite things to do on the Christmas break is go hard and marathon my way through entire series of different shows, Alias, Chuck, and The Sarah Connor Chronicles are a few of my past Christmas obsessions. This year it's Stargate Atlantis, yes I occasionally get my geek on for the sole purpose of drooling over sexy guys. In this case Jason Momoa was the catalyst. He's so yummy.

So this jelly was a polish that intrigued me for no other reason that it's the most bizarre ugly colour. Well I obviously had to have it and I happened to have enough reward points on NPC to get it. Of course as soon as I put it on I was like wow this is pretty awful. But I kind of liked it too so thought I might as well add a glitter and make a sammich!

For this I used
Nfu Oh - JS39
Color Club - Take The Stage

Pink Jelly Sandwich

Hey guys,

so I've already had a crazy busy night so this is going to be super short and sweet seeing as I just want to go to bed. So I'd been hearing about "Jelly Sandwiches" for a while now and decided it was time for me to try one. It's not perfect. Nor is it the most beautiful one I've seen but I still like this.

For this I used

OPI - Do You Think I'm Tex-y
Color Club - Fame & Fortune

Olympic Manicure

Hey guys,

So today I was watching the Women's soccer semi finals game. (USA vs Canada)
I'm going to start this off by saying that both teams played incredibly well. It always amazes me how the players can be rolling on the ground in pain one moment then ripping around after the ball moments later, talk about hardcore athletes. I was totally unhappy about the refereeing though. Seriously that ref could not have seemed any more biased towards the US team. Now while I'm not saying that team USA shouldn't have won (like I said they were one half of an incredible game) I'm super happy about how team Canada played and that they came so close to having a shot at the gold.

This is my Olympic themed manicure.
for this I used

Bed Head - Master Mind (white base)
Quo Instant Artist - Red
Orly Instant Artist - Jet Black
Art Club - Neon Green
Art Club - Yellow
Art Club - Neon Blue

Black Cherry Backstage Pass

Hey guys,

So remember how I promised an epic post on Wednesday. Well apparently I lied. I somehow found myself volunteering to help out with another Corporate Challenge event tonight. Swiftly ending any chance of being productive (or completely unproductive) tonight. I was so looking forward to an evening of absolutely nothing. Looks like thats going to have to wait until Saturday.... seriously when did I start committing to having a semi-busy schedule. WTF. Sorry. Thats over.

Anyways what I have for you today is probably close to exactly whats going to happen tonight. Oh crap I don't have time to do an entire manicure. So lets throw glitter on it and stretch it out for a day. Lazy? Yes.

This is Color Club Backstage Pass
on top of OPI Black Cherry Chutney.

I was fairly certain I hadn't used this silver & purple chunky glitter before so no time like the present.

time to make a cup of tea and get back to work.

Lo Flake

Hey Guys

So I have great news tonight!
I raised over $1000 for the heart and stroke foundation!!!
I'm so excited I NEVER thought I would get that much. So to everyone who donated. A HUGE THANK YOU!!

Anyways okay
So I wanted to use Colour Club Fame & Fortune again so this time I used it with Zoya Lo.
The colour of the base on the flakie darkens the pink.

It's fairly similar to the last time that I used F&F but a bit lighter this go around
