October Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So I was kind of hoping to fall head over heels for the entire October collection because of Halloween, and maybe use my points to get the whole collection, but sadly there was only a few polishes I was smitten with, and when I say smitten - I promise you I mean smitten. Nicole by OPI - Mer-Maid For Each Other

Hey guys,

So this was a mini I got from my bestie Nicole, but it came without a name, however by doing some research I have discovered it to be Mer-Maid for Each Other. Which is close to Just Spotted the Lizard by OPI but this one is more blue/green/gold then green/gold.

This one was very pretty and quite nice to apply. This was three coats.

August Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

Today I have my August maven box to show you guys, I really liked the colours in this months box, not enough to get the whole collection (although I think I thought about it)
Not even one day into swatching and wearing these polishes I had a mishap that caused my ring fingernail to break right off, I didn't even notice it happen until I was like wait something is WRONG.
So just incase you're wondering that's what happened.

Julep - Betsey - August Birthstone

Hey guys,

So I just wanted to promise you that I still have a bunch of posts coming down the pipe. Supernatural Lacquer is having a restock this Friday and I have a plan to pick a bunch of stuff up from one of my favourite ladies. So that should be coming.

Today I have the Julep August Birthstone polish to show you. Honestly I can't even REMEMBER what last year's August polish looked like so obviously it didn't stand out too terribly much. This was a pretty duochrome. Went on a touch sheer, this is three coats. (Also lets have a moment of silence for my poor ring finger nail that was lost in battle - aka putting on my jeans, which is sometimes a battle)

Julep - Heidi - June Birthstone

Hey guys,

So I'm going to stop apologizing for my lack of posting and just get on with things, because apologizing doesn't seem to be making a difference.

This is the June birthstone from Julep and I LOVE it. I wore this for a full four days, which is almost a record for me. It's a gorgeous royal purple with a dark blue duochrome shift. I seriously can't get over how much I love this one.

April Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

Today I have Julep's April maven box to show you guys. I love spring colours! I wanted to love this whole collection and upgrade. However there was a few dupes in the collection so instead I just picked two polishes that stood out, and got the sea salt spray for hair which I've wanted to try for a while. Then added on their new silver holo. Why did I do that? because I'm crazy

Julep - Sawyer

Hey guys,

So over the past few months since I've gotten busier in my life obviously I have cut down how often I post. But I have also tried to just quit buying as much polish, which is HARD! Especially when you have impulse control problems and insist upon buying the whole Morgan Taylor Cinderella collection because you're obsessed with the movie. OR being quite tempted to order the entire Julep April collection. (THEY'RE JUST SO PRETTY AND BRIGHT) Anyways I'm the worst and my bank account hates me.

Today I have a super neat polish my best friend gave me, this is a bronzey-gold duochrome. At first I was kind of like yeah that's pretty. And then I put it on and I LOVE IT!!!

A England - Hurt No Living Thing

Hey guys

So today my iPad mini came in the mail! Eeeek I'm so excited to just sit and play with it. Yes I am like a five year old with a new toy. Honestly it was likely just an expensive netflix player but whatever I'm sure it will come in handy for travelling.

Today I have the an A England polish to show you, as of this moment my A England collection is 100% complete. Of course now that I have said that out loud I'm sure it won't be long until Adina releases a new collection. This is a ethereal purple sheer duochrome. For maximum effect I layered this over black but I'm curious to see what this would look like on it's own.
This is one coat over black.

Julep - Alexis

Hey guys,

So it's going to be a busy weekend for me, already I've spent the day painting lawn chairs for a bonfire tonight. I know that may sound kind of weird but really who wouldn't want a lawn chair with their name on it?

Today I have an awesome purple to show you guys, this is a purple and gold duochrome. This is a beautiful colour for fall and application was fantastic this was two coats.

Dollish Polish - Curse Your Sudden, But Inevitable Betrayal

Hey guys,

So I head home tomorrow, it was a fantastic week. I don't wanna go home! Okay I really mean I don't want to drive home. Thank goodness for Comedy radio and audiobooks! Whoop! Sorry for all the exclamation marks, it's been a long day and I'm getting pretty loopy.

Tonight's polish is inspired by Firefly which is a spectacular show that never reached it's full potential on TV (yes we mostly blame Fox... do please air episodes in order. kthnxbai.) More specifically Serenity the movie that followed the show. The polish name was from the most heartbreaking moment in the movie. Oh my heart and how it hurts. Anyways as far as polishes go this was so-so nothing super spectacular but not awful either. Reminds me a bit of rust.

Inspired by both Serenity and Wash's infamous dinosaurs, this gorgeous duochrome flashes from a chocolate brown, to green.

This is three coats.

Digital Nails - Chillin' Like A Villain

Hey guys,

So about a month ago my NPBFF Melissa let me know that Raphaelle from Digital Nails had a "promotion" I guess you could call it maybe? Where if you donated $35+ to an Alzheimer's fundraiser she was participating in (a good cause) she would make a custom bottle of nail polish for you. So I was IN obviously.

Trying to think of what kind of polish I wanted didn't take too long, my friends have often described me as a Disney villain, and it wasn't long before I started indentifying with the villains instead of the Princesses. So while I still love the Princesses, they get a lot of love, there are several Disney Princess inspired collections out there, but very few inspired by villains. So I was talking to Melissa and she jokingly said "Chillin' Like A Villain" and I was SOLD. So I gave Raph the name and free rein to do WHATEVER she wanted.

Well a couple weeks later this baby arrived. It's a teal/purple duochrome chock full of copper micro glitter and holo glitter. Raph said she had a blast bottling pure evil, and I love it, my camera refused to capture the beauty of pure evil but here it is in it's two coat glory!

OPI - Next Stop... The Bikini Zone

Hey guys,

So today I leave all my friends in Calgary and drive home, just to fly out to my cousin's wedding a couple provinces over! The excitement never ends!

I have the last Brazil OPI mini to show you guys today, this one seemed a bit out of place with the others in the set, it actually reminds me a lot of a couple of the polishes in the June Julep Maven box. It's a purpley-gold duochrome, with awesome shimmer. This was three coats.

June Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So I really didn't want this to happen, I told myself I would be good. Then it happened. I upgraded my Julep box AGAIN. This month Julep introduced their new My Maven program. All existing Mavens would have the choice to continue with their current subscription program which is you choose which box you want then you can have up to three add-ons. Or upgrade to "My Maven" and pay $25 a month and be able to customize their box, which I actually like because you can swap out a polish you don't want for one you do want. Or you can upgrade to the Maven Luxe box and pay $40 a month and get to choose more products in your box. I upgraded to the My Maven, but after looking at this month's collection I splurged. I blame the fact that this month's collection is whimsical. It's very A Midsummer's Night Dream.

Deborah Lippmann - Forsaken: Sookie Sookie Set

Hey guys,

So a few months ago I found two Deborah Lippmann sets I had been lusting over for months. I've said it before, but I am a total sucker for anything tying into anything I fangirl over. So while the polishes within these sets may have not screamed my name, the fact that they are True Blood Deborah Lippmann's was enough to make these a must have. And I found them at Winners so DOUBLE BONUS. Actually if I was a good friend I would have also grabbed them for Melissa but alas, I suck.

If you are a True Blood fan then you'll know that the season premiere of the FINAL season starts on Sunday, out with Game of Thrones and in with True Blood. Oh HBO you really know how to not overwhelm my schedule. I dig it. I'm still really sore over Warlow's departure. If you haven't seen last season and that is a spoiler for you, the statute of limitations on spoilers for last season is up so deal with it.
Anyways here is the first of two sets!.

imPRESS Influenster Vox Box

Hey guys,

Today I have something a little bit different for you guys, so like a year and a half ago I signed up for Influenster, which is a program that sends people free samples to review. Honestly I hadn't thought of them much until a few weeks ago when I received a survey in my email. So I filled out the questionnaire and went about my daily life, well about a week later I got a email saying I had been chosen for an imPRESS vox box. So I went onto the influenster website and started playing around and now I am obsessed with them.

I have never tried press on nails before or even fake nails, I have seen these around in stores and used by grav3yardgirl but since I paint my nails daily they seemed like a waste of money. Anyways, I was super excited when I saw I got a set of the Disney Villain ones (it's like they know me!) so those are the ones I decided to test drive. My cinderella hand is super short right now so it seemed like a good time to test them.

Please forgive the awkward pictures I had a hard time taking pictures of my right hand.

In my box I got two sets of nails, the pink patterny ones and the villain ones.

I dig the packaging on these, I am currently thinking of what I am going to use the bottle case for... I'm thinking as a pill case. We'll see.

So the instructions are pretty simple, find the nails that fit each of your fingers and lay them out. Then on clean (they give you a cleaning wipe) bare nails starting with the pinky remove the plastic backing and press down onto your nail, starting in the middle of the nail then sort of smoothing it out. Do the thumb last. Then stay away from water for 30 minutes.

Honestly the longest part of this was finding the right sizes, other than that super easy.
I had to file my nails down a bit because these are way shorter than I normally wear my nails.

The nails all have this sort of plastic square nub on the free edge that you have to file off (they give you a rough file to do this with)  At first they feel a bit weird but it was easy to get used to. The weirdest part for me was having square nails on one hand and stilettos on the other.

So they claim they will last a week if applied correctly, I definitely believe this. I left them on for 6 days then finally had to get rid of them because I couldn't stop nawing on them. After 6 days the edges were getting pretty worn and starting to lift a bit, but you wouldn't have noticed from a far. I had to soak them in acetone for a couple seconds (about ten seconds each) then use my cuticle pusher to pry them up. There didn't appear to be any damage done to my natural nail.
Verdict: if you need a lasting manicure and don't have nice and strong nails and would like to try these I definitely would say they are worth the $10 (give or take a bit) they are so easy to use and come in a bunch of different patterns. If you change your polish often like me, or have long nails like me - then probably not. I wish they would make a longer stiletto shape so I could have nails that match if I decided to try them again.
