Champagne & Black Crackle

Story That I've Been Promising:
So a few nights ago I went out for dinner with Miss Jill, (Famoso, it was DELICIOUS and now I want Famoso. As of this moment I could live on their Quattro Formaggio pizza) then headed back to my place to watch movies (My Life In Ruins & Captain America incase you needed to know) So while I am painting my nails, Jill also decides to paint her nails.
First she pulls out about 5 polishes and decides she wants to do polka dots.
One swipe of a light pink polish and this is the conversation:

Jill: WTF this isn't pink!
Me: Not one coat of it, no.
Jill: Well forget this I'm not even going to finish.

So then she proceeds to remove the polish off of the two fingers she painted.
Then she glances over at my nails.

Jill: Oooh Pretty! Maybe I want Sparkles.
Me: Well this one is really sparkly.

I hand her CG Lorelei's Tiara. She proceeds to paint her entire hand. Then looks at it with disdain.

Jill: This is not working for me.
Me: Well it works better with a base colour.
Jill: You didn't tell me that!
Me: Sorry, I thought you knew.

So once again she proceeds to go through the painful process of removing glitter polish as I roll my eyes at her indecision (which all who know Jill know is pretty common).

Jill: maybe I just want naked nails.
Me: Okay. sounds good.

Then she glances over at my nails.

Jill: Thats really pretty howcome you didn't give me any ideas like that?
Me: Sorry?
Jill: I just want mellow nails.
Me: So do like a light purple with a matte top coat.
Jill: You can do that?
Me: *a look that says "you doubt me?"* yep.
Jill: Will you paint them for me?
Me: Yes

So I painted her nails. Within seconds she manages to put her thumb in the other thumb's wet polish.  So after I fix this then finish.

Jill: You missed a spot.

So that was the story of what happened while these nails came into existance.
Without further adeiu.

So I started with OPI Designer De Better from the Muppets collection.
It's a great champagne colour that at first I thought had flecks of pink in it but upon further inspection what I thought was pink is actually copper. So gorgeous.

After two coats of OPI DDB, 1 coat of China Glaze Black Mesh.
Seal with 1 coat of SV and you get the following.

Jasmine Manicure

Before I get to the post I first have to give a shout out to my BFF Nicole. I took some flack today because I hadn't mentioned her in my blog. My response was "Dude, you don't read my blog," her response was something along the lines of "You never told me about it" needless to say I dug a little bit and took a screen shot of me telling her about my blog.
There you go Nicole, you've officially been mentioned.

More Princess nails!!
So I always loved Aladdin growing up, the third movie significantly reminds me of when I broke my arm in grade 3. After I got my cast on Mom took me to McDonalds then went and bought me the VHS. Don't get me wrong the third movie is awful but MEMORIES IS MEMORIES!!

Here are my Jasmine nails. I personally love them.

For this manicure I grabbed. OPI Yodel Me On My Cell

And OPI Atomic Orange.

I also used Essie Blanc and a Sally Hanson Nail Art Pen in Black.

Raja was one of my favourite parts of Aladdin so how could I not include him in my Jasmine nails?
It took me about 4 tries to get the tiger print right but now that I have a method I think it would make a bitchin' manicure on it's own.

NYX Blood

Everyone who knows me know that I am a supernatural junkie.
Give me vampires (sparkly vamps need not apply), give me werewolves, give me witches, anything of the sort.
Ever since Buffy (which for me was circa grade 3 when it started and I became obsessed) I cannot get enough of anything supernatural.
So needless to say when I came across NYX Blood in my spree the other day there was no way I was passing this up.
1. It's red
2. It has a name right up my alley.
This week marks the season premiere of Being Human (the US version.... don't get me wrong I tried getting into the BBC one with no avail... lets just blame Sam Witwer, he's like crack for the eyes)
So what better time to break out this puppy.

Aiden (Sam) eat your heart out... or mine, thats cool too.

This is 3 coats.

Rapunzel Manicure

The return of the PRINCESS nails!
I promised you guys they'd be back. I just needed a couple days to gather supplies and inspiration.
So considering on Sunday I went to see Beauty & the Beast in 3D with one of my closest friends Melissa (yes I realize I say this about mostly all of the people I mention but I swear there are only like.... 5 closest friends... maybe 6)
Anyways so considering I already did Belle nails in honour of B&TB coming out in theaters I wasn't going to repeat myself. So if you weren't aware before the movie starts there is a short a la Pixar. Except the short is "Tangled Ever After" where Rapunzel and Eugene get married, and when you add Maximus and Pascal into that equation, hilarity ensues.

So here are my "Rapunzel Nails"

I started with 2 coats of Sparitual Thunder Road.

2 Coats of OPI Sparrow Me The Drama down the center of the thumbs and the tips of the rest.

OPI Pink Friday with a striping brush (my first striping attempt) for laces.

And with the exception of my horrible bow I'm pretty happy.
Totally girly and princessy and I think the colours go together really well.

More Princess nails to come... who should I do next?

NYX Titanic

Hello my pretties... the whole handful of you :)
Yes I am clearly in a good mood today.
So because yesterday's post blew because I was doing about a million things (updating books on my Kobo, updating music on my iPod, etc.) and then it was all time to go for dinner.
Okay so first yesterday on the way home from work I had to go fill Stanley's tank (Stanley is my car for all who don't know. He is awesome.) then randomly decided to stop by Save On to see if there were any NYX polishes I liked. Note about NYX: This stuff is awesome good quality make up for like super cheap. even cheaper if you have a Save More card (which I finally do!) and for some reason Save On (grocery store) is the only place we've found that carries it (so far anyways).
So I round the corner on the NYX polish and see this:
NYX POLISH: $5.99 with the yellow Save More sticker CARD PRICE: $1.99
Yes I had died and gone to Polish heaven.

I picked up 6 colours. Blood, Snow White, Sunset Blvd, Fire, Dancing Queen and Titanic.
for $13!!!! I saved $24!!!

Now I think I will save the Jill story for when I post the nails I did while that story occurred. Sorry Jill, tomorrow I promise.

Anyways here is NYX Titanic.
Now first let me tell you that the name of this polish almost made me NOT buy it. I was severely scarred as a child by the movie Titanic and will refuse to watch it for the rest of my life.
This colour however is wonderful. Almost an exact dupe for Essie Aruba Blue. (more on that later)

This polish is amazing it was almost totally perfect in 1 single coat. This is 2 coats.

So remember how I said it was almost an exact dupe for Essie Aruba Blue
My pinkie in these pics are AB. It's like half a shade lighter. You can't tell from far away and probably wouldn't tell unless you were really looking for it.

Sephora by OPI - Studs & Stilettos

I have a great story for you guys starring one of my best friends Jill, but considering I'm in a time crunch it'll have to wait until tomorrow's post.

Okay so here was an impulse polish buy that turned out fabulous.
Reason for purchase:
1. I love brown
2. Studs & Stilettos... reminds me of my ponies... so done deal.

It's a gorgeous chocolate brown frost.

Went on beautifully. This is 2 coats.

sorry I promise more tomorrow!!!

Red Comparison

Okay so yesterday Chelsea told me I wasn't allowed to paint my nails red until Valentines Day. To which I said I'll paint them red every single day UNTIL Valentines Day when I will proceed to paint them BLACK like my heart.
So I decided to pull out all my reds (excluding glitters and crackles) and swatch them against each other.

Left to Right:
Essie Turning Heads Red, Essie Lacquered Up, Zoya Stella, China Glaze Restless, Zoya Colbie, OPI Pretty and Privileged, OPI Animalistic, China Glaze Moulin Rouge, OPI Wocka Wocka, OPI Ali's Big Break.

So I did this really quickly and considering it was coming off right away I didn't bother cleaning it up.

Thumb to Pinkie:

Z Colbie, CG Restless, Z Stella, E Lacquered Up, E Turning Heads Red.
First Thoughts: Restless is getting relegated to the Pinks pile.
The two Essie polishes are the only cremes of the group.
While the other 3 are shimmers with Restless being borderline glitter.
I really do love them all

This hand is obviously worse when it comes to being sloppy.
Thumb to Pinkie:
OPI Pretty and Privileged, OPI Animalistic, China Glaze Moulin Rouge, OPI Wocka Wocka, OPI Ali's Big Break.
First Thoughts: While P&P has been my #1 polish for a couple years (you can tell because it's starting to thicken up) WW may be the next in line to take the crown when P&P is no longer around.

I meant to take more pics of each nail but got a little carried away and took all the polish off before I remembered that but I'm sure better swatches will come in the future. (for Ali's Big Break, hop on over to Elf Nails)
