Cosmic Braid Manicure

Hey guys,

So today I decided that I need to watch approx 92 Disney movies before my cousin and I go to Disneyworld next year. Totally doable... also is it crazy I have all but one of those movies? Yup. I have no clue where to start, Jaz says start alphabetically but that seems to easy. I MUST COMPLICATE THIS.

So I love braided manicures so much. This one needed WAYYYY more clean up but I think I was in a rush so I just quickly cleaned the cuticles and slapped a topcoat on.

For this I used
Avon - Galaxy
Avon - Aurora
Avon - Starburst

Avon Cosmic Holo Collection

Hey guys,

So these have been sitting in my "To-Post" folder for a while so I decided to just treat you guys to the whole collection at one time.

I have spoke a couple times about how impressed I am with Avon's improving formulas. So when I saw these I knew I had to have them so I tracked down a Avon rep and ordered them all... realistically I didn't NEED them all but since WHEN has that stopped me.

Avon - Flash

Hey guys,

Today I have the LAST Mirror Shine to show you, I'm actually pretty excited to have these OUT of my drafts. As they've been sitting there for too long. I don't have a whole lot to talk about here so looks like this will be a short and sweet post, good for a Sunday.

This one is a silvery-champagne same careful 2 coat application just like the other ones.

Avon - Blast

Hey guys,

So just as a quick heads up I'm going through some intense family stuff right now so be prepared for a interruption in blog posts. I don't foresee any problems but there is a chance that the blog may have to go on the back burner. I'll disclose a bit more later but for now that's all I'm going to say.

Today I have another Mirror Shine polish from Avon. Formula on this one was the same as the others easy application as long as you're aware of brush strokes. These polishes apply great and most all of them could almost be one coaters but I always do two coats for good measure.

Avon - Beam

Hey guys,

Yup more from the Vault today. You've seen a few of these Mirror Shine polishes by now, and I have a couple more for you in the coming days. I actually forgot how pretty this polish was, I never really wore this when I initially bought it like 100 years ago.

Not much to say here, two coats, careful application due to brush strokes. Your typical foil.

Avon - Romance

Hey guys,

So those of you who know me personally know how much of a planner I am, (which seems kind of weird sometimes) but I LOVE organization (unless you see my room, that doesn't count).
I love spreadsheets, alphabetization, and labels. So in an effort to buy less polish I am making a sincere effort to swatch and WEAR (the wearing is the big part) all my untried which aren't out of control right now, they're sitting somewhere around 20. Normally I would just swatch each polish in a night and called it a day, untried are no longer untried.

Then I run into the problem of having all these polishes that I haven't actually worn, they've only been swatched, which is silly. My other dilemma comes with sitting staring at my pile and trying to decide which polish to wear next, this for me is sometimes a long drawn out decision.

So what did I do? I made a schedule. I mapped out exactly when I was going to wear each polish. I have this in a spreadsheet and in a calander and even in reminders in my phone so I know exactly what comes next.

Extreme? Maybe, but it makes me feel better

That was kinda lengthy sorry. Today I have a random polish gifted to me by my bestie Nicole. It's a frosty mauve from Avon, aside from having to be careful about brushstrokes I had no problems formula wise and the brush on these polishes is fantastic. This was 2 coats.

Avon - Glisten

Hey guys,

Today we have another polish from "The Vault" when it comes to polishes that survived my polish purge from a couple years ago there were very few polishes that I decided to keep, but I loved these Mirror Shine polishes so much I had to keep them. Plus you never know when polish trends will come back (just look at the mirror polishes Essie put out last year) I'm glad I kept these plus they come in handy for nail art.
Application on these is a bit of a pain, they dry fast and can often be totally opaque in 1 good coat but you need a steady hand because brush strokes are quite prevalent. And they are a pain in the butt to photograph.

TV Inspired: Nip/Tuck

Hey guys,

First off I just want to say that I am a huge failure at a self-imposed no-buy. Seriously, lets never do this again. I've been trying to be good, I have serious impulse control problems. More on my short comings next month though.

My manicure today is inspired by one seriously screwed up yet totally awesome shows: Nip/Tuck
I loved this show (got a bit old towards the end, but hey that happens to most) it was totally screwed up and bizarre, but so awesome. Anyways this was pretty simple but follows in the vein of the opening credits

For this I used
Bed Head - Mastermind
Quo Instant Artist - Red
Orly Instant Artist - Black
Avon - Silver

TV Inspired: Roswell

Hey guys,

So I'm pretty much so insanely stoked right now. I really need to calm down otherwise I am going to start vibrating like a chihuahua. Starting NOW I've begun saving for a trip to Disneyworld. Now I've said it before I am a ridiculous Disney freak, like own all the movies, buy all the Disney stuff, annoy your friends with all your Disney references - kind of Disney freak. So Disneyworld is more or less my heaven. Except when we went last time and it happened so coincide with the Cheerleading finals or something like that. Too much spirit, and it didn't help that Dad kept telling me to go fight the annoying ones. Anyways so next Feb. Disneyworld + Me = Happy Happy Happy.

Okay sorry that was like word vomit. It just had to come out.
Today's manicure is Roswell, man do I miss that show. That being said I'm not 100% happy with how this turned out. the handprint is all funky and I totally misjudged size but I like the way the thumb turned out. I used the DVD box set covers as my colour inspiration. Anyways, so not my best but also not my worst

For this I used
Orly - Le Chateau
Avon - Glisten
Avon - Silver
OPI - Take The Stage
OPI - Did It On 'Em
OPI - Unfor-greta-bly Blue
Island Girl - Hawaiian Color
NYX - Thunder
NYX - Tahitian
Sally Hansen - Black Out

TV Inspired: The Vampire Diaries

Hey guys,

So our manicure today is The Vampire Diaries.
Here's a fun fact: I went to high school with Sara Canning who plays Aunt Jenna in the first couple seasons. We had a drama class together. She's probably one of the nicest people.
That being said now that Elena is all over Damon I'm not very impressed. I tend to fall for the super broody good guys, it disgusts my friend Jill but it also means that we never usually fight over guys.

So here I have the Salvatores Day ring (thats an S not a $ just for the record) and Elena's locket.
Along with some super cheesy vamp teeth. I also took this opportunity to use one of my polishes I made.

For this I used:
Sally Hansen - Black Out
Bed Head - Master Mind
Orly - Stone Cold
Nails Inc - Trafalgar Square
Avon - Silver
Hoof Polish - Matinee Rouge
Orly Instant Artist in Jet Black & Fiery Red

TV Inspired: Battlestar Galactica

Hey guys,

So good news! my frankening supplies came and somehow what was in my mind actually made it into the bottles! Originally I had planned exactly how I was going to distribute them, because I only ordered enough bottles to make 4 of each. Well my initial plan was to surprise my new buddy Melissa from Claw of Cthulhu with a bottle of a couple (well as much as you can surprise someone after having asked for their address) So sorry Melissa, maybe if I make a second batch.

Alright! Moving on! Today's manicure is Geek-certified by my coach's husband Brendan. Our inspiration today is Battlestar Galactica the newer one obviously. My Dad and I still haven't settled the debate over which one is better (the new one obviously.... sexy men galore)
We have Starbuck's tattoo, a cylon face, the BSG logo (a bit sloppy but whatever) & a cylon spine. If you follow me on instagram (puckzilla23) you can dig through my pics to find me in my Cylon t-shirt. But thats neither here nor there

For this I used

Sally Hansen - Black Out
Avon - Beam
Orly Instant Artist - Fiery Red & Crisp White

Avon - "Silver"

Hey guys,

So remember that polish no-buy I talked about a few weeks ago. Well that seems to have gone completely out the window. Seriously what is wrong with me? Oh right addiction. Well the boxing day sale at NPC got to me. I also hit up ebay and got a bunch of swatching wheels so I can finally catalogue all my polishes in swatch form as well. No doubt that'll make it easier and less daunting when friends want to pick out a polish to borrow. Also we know how much I love keeping my collections in order which will be awesome because my actual collection is insane (chaotic drawers just jumbled together, uggh I hate it) Also riddle me this batman, how can I be so OCD with my DVD collection & my polish collection yet my room literally looks like a bomb exploded.

Moving on, so this swatch has literally been sitting in my drafts box forever with it's "siblings" and I keep passing over it for more exciting manicures or polishes. Well time to set this baby free.

This is

Avon Mirror Shine - "Silver"
I actually have no clue what the real name of the polish is because the sticker on the bottom vanished sometime over the ten years of owning this polish.

Avon - Luminous

Hey guys,

So I'm in a huge rush so this is just going to be short and sweet.

So this polish I've actually had for about 10 years believe it or not. Still works great. Seeing how Essie just put out their Chrome/Mirror/Metallic polishes this year I figured it wasn't too out of date. That being said polish never really goes totally out of style does it?

Avon - Absinthe

Hey guys,

So little personal story here for you, so lately I feel like I'm getting to be really good and responsible with money and stuff like that (Seriously not having to live paycheque to paycheque? Kinda nice. Still happens a lot but when it doesn't, COOL!) Anyways basically where I'm going with this is that I have become OBSESSED with knowing exactly where my money goes each month. That being said I feel like as far as obsessions go, being aware of your finances is NOT a bad one (being insane and stupid cheap yes thats a problem, but being aware is a different story) Wooo look at me I'm a grown up... almost... I'm still not convinced.

Anyways moving on, this is such a great Halloween colour! Glad I found this sitting in my drafts folder.
Chelsea is going to say it looks like vomit but I love it.

Avon - Deluxe Chocolate

Hey guys,

So today basking in my fall glee I decided that sometime end of October/beginning of November I'm going to do a Top Ten Favourite fall colours. So I'm kind of stoked for that.

That being said this is a fantastic fall colour... Maybe it'll make the list? This is a polish Nicole got me. I'm a total Chameleon when it comes to colours I really don't have anything that is a no fly zone (well except for nudes but that's only because I don't have any!) but I loooove browns. Chelsea thinks they're gross. But I love them.

This is

Avon - Deluxe Chocolate

The application on this was actually fantastic when on perfectly in two coats. Very nice. Not the Avon I remember from years ago.
