Dollish Polish - I Want To Believe

Hey guys,

So like most nights I had really grand plans for exactly what was going to happen tonight, I was going to finish my quilt, finish one or two dragon eggs, shampoo the basement carpet, along with tidying and vacuuming the basement. Wellllll... I finished my quilt, and shampooed part of the carpet so that's better than nothing right?

Tonight I have a beautiful, haunting? grey polish. Honestly I want to watch The X Files... but I'm a huge chicken. I but I swear I want to. I need an X Files buddy.

Inspired by Mulder and his desire to learn the truth, finally, a polish that brings to mind all the skin-crawling moments that the X Files has given us! This blue-tone gray crelly with blue/green flash is chunk full of rainbow micro flakes, and green and blue micro glitters and shreds.

I love this, this was two coats

Rainbow Honey - Mystery Sample

Hey guys,

So big day for Canada in the Olympics, talk about an Epic comeback in women's hockey. USA played a great game, and we were all freaking out for a while. That empty goalpost save. HOLY CRAP! We all freaked.

So in with my birthday/Christmas present from Melissa was a Mystery Grab bag from Rainbow Honey. Inside was this Mystery Sample polish. I have no clue what this polish is called but MAN was it a weird one to describe. It is a charcoal jelly base that has green/purple duochrome flakies in it. It wasn't at all what I expected it to be. Definitely better than I expected. For some reason not knowing the name of this really weirds me out. This was 3 coats.

piCture pOlish - Festival

Hey guys,

So today I took my puppy to the vet to get her nails clipped, which she HATES, going to the vet makes me just know how my parents felt when they took me to get my boosters as a kid. She's currently in the corner pouting with her beef chew treat she got as a reward... yup I still feel bad.

So I love Picture Polish, it is one of my fave indie brands, so when I found this in my box of goodies from Melissa for Christmas I was stoked. This is a multi coloured flakie, of course it was a jerk to photograph.
This is 2 coats over black.

Deborah Lippmann - Ray of Light

Hey guys,

So a couple weeks ago you guys got to see my post of Deborah Lippmann's Sweet Dreams. Thats assuming that you check in regularly, and if you don't well thats fine too. I believe this one and Sweet Dreams came out in the same collection. Someone who has tons of followers would probably go double check on that right now, but unless every single person reading this right now decides to follow me with GFC or bloglovin' I'm just going to continue to be lazy right now.

This was super gorgeous. I loved it. In hindsight it needed another coat. It looked fine in person but under the light my camera was appy to point out the spots that were a bit bald. I had no real problems with application this was 3 coats (I'm fairly certain) and if you go with thick(er) coats you should be fine at 3. As everyone can see my ring finger needed 4

Deborah Lippmann - Sweet Dreams

Hey Guys,

So a few weeks ago NPC announced that they would no longer be carrying Deborah Lippmann due to their distributor no longer carrying it so as a result almost ALL of their stock of DL polishes went on sale. Initially I didn't really read the e-mail and decided to pass seeing as I was on a low-buy and I always figured DL polishes were more hype then anything. Well once Miss Melissa alerted me to the fact that this would likely be my last chance to get my hands on them obviously I caved and bought WAY too many.

Here is the first of my moment of weakness. This was three coats of this bright pink flakie. I had no problems with application or removal.

Pink Ombre Manicure & What to Do When You Fall Out of Love With a Brand?

Hey guys,

So first I want to talk about something thats been bugging me for a while and I want to talk about. I considered putting this in it's own post but decided in the end to stick it with random manicure instead. Feel free to just skip the part and head on down to the pictures below.

Anyways so something I've been thinking a lot about lately is "What do you do when you've fallen out of love with a brand or company?" This doesn't have to apply strictly to nail polish although in my case it does.
In my case this is Cult Nails. Now I really do like the polish itself (I almost feel like I'm in a "Don't bring the kids into this" position, the kids being the nail polish) It usually has a great formula and there are some really fun colours (Yes, Flushed & Charming I'm looking at you two). However I feel like I really just can't support the actual company. A couple months back when Cult Nails reached a milestone on Facebook they had a sale, right in the middle of my no buy. So of course me and a friend took to Twitter to whine about being in the middle of our no buy. We were totally both on board to break our no buy and splurge and hoard some more Cult Nails. When we actually got a reply out of Maria. All it said was "Sorry?" Now the adult in me is saying "Stop being a baby, suck it up"
Bottomline is I felt a little bit unappreciated as a customer. Whether or not it is justified.
Now I find myself looking at my polishes I have with a bit of resentment, then I feel guilty (polishes have feelings right?)
I wish this had happened after I had grabbed a few more polishes I (still) want, I wish I could be less immature about this.
So really what happens next? Guess only time will tell.

On a lighter less whiney note: I love a good ombre mani even though I tend to really suck at them (for some reason I aways pick a colour that just throws everything off) Anyways I thought this one was decent enough to share with you guys. I was rockin some pretty serious nubs when I did this too. blech I hate when my nails are that short however it has to be done sometimes. Then I topped all the pinks off with a coat of Zoya Chloe and then some Matte About You.

For this I used
Essie - Foot Loose
 Zoya - Whitney
OPI - If You Moust You Moust
OPI - Sparrow Me The Drama
OPI - Pink Friday
Zoya - Chloe

Cult Nails - Coveted

Hey guys,

Welcome to Day 4 of our Cult nails Swatching week (plus 1 day) today we hit the halfway mark.
I have the second last polish from the Behind Closed Doors collection.

This is
Cult Nails - Coveted

I loved this green, I have nothing like it. I wore this to my kids Christmas party at work last month and my coworker Tracy's daughter Pearl (who is 8 months old) was obsessed with stroking my nails. Which has nothing really to do with anything other thank just being funny.

White Jelly Sandwich

Hey guys,

So tonight I went and saw Rise of the Guardians. Omg I loved it so much! It's like a super amazing Christmas movie without actually being a Christmas movie. So awesome, and the elves are amazing.

Sorry this is going to be short and sweet, it's getting late and I'm totally distracted by Jay Ryan on Beauty & the Beast. Sorry guys! But here's my next jelly sandwich!

For this I used

OPI - Don't Touch My Tutu!
China Glaze - Lush & Luxe

Pink Jelly Sandwich

Hey guys,

so I've already had a crazy busy night so this is going to be super short and sweet seeing as I just want to go to bed. So I'd been hearing about "Jelly Sandwiches" for a while now and decided it was time for me to try one. It's not perfect. Nor is it the most beautiful one I've seen but I still like this.

For this I used

OPI - Do You Think I'm Tex-y
Color Club - Fame & Fortune

Pink Bleeding Gradient

Hey guys,

So right now I would pretty much kill for some mini donuts right now. Random? yes. extremely. It's mostly because I know Capital Ex is happening and that mini donuts are in abundance there. Also I haven't eaten breakfast yet and it's killlllllling me haha. Okay that was a bit dramatic.

So this is the second "bleeding" gradient that I've tried and this one worked a lot better than the first... I don't even remember what the first was I just remember it didn't work.

The theory behind this is you put a couple drops of polish on one end of the nail and then a few drops on the other end and that they bleed together.
You can see it worked better on some nails than others.

For this I used
OPI My Chihuahua Bites!
Zoya Lo
Zoya Chloe (flakie)

Lo Flake

Hey Guys

So I have great news tonight!
I raised over $1000 for the heart and stroke foundation!!!
I'm so excited I NEVER thought I would get that much. So to everyone who donated. A HUGE THANK YOU!!

Anyways okay
So I wanted to use Colour Club Fame & Fortune again so this time I used it with Zoya Lo.
The colour of the base on the flakie darkens the pink.

It's fairly similar to the last time that I used F&F but a bit lighter this go around

Chloe's Chihuahua Bites!

Hey ladies

So lately I've been trying to extend the life of my manicures, so if I'm really digging a colour I'll try to add something to it or maybe matte it and wear it for another day. I'm trying to make my nail polish remover last a bit until I can find some more, I really love Essie Naturally but I bought it at Winners and haven't seen it anywhere else :(

So This was from my OPI My Chihuahua Bites! manicure from a few posts ago.

To this I added

Zoya - Chloe
which is one of the Zoya flakies.

I loved the result!

We're hitting a milestone in a couple days eek!! can you guess what?
