Supernatural Lacquer - The Four Horsemen Collection

Hey guys,

Soooo yeah it's been a while. I'm still around not dead. Just a little bit under motivated to post.
That being said today I have a whole magnetic collection from Supernatural Lacquer to show you guys.

This collection was inspired by the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse. These were released last Halloween.
Application on these was really nice. I did find I had to hunt for a good magnet, the ones provided with other magnetic polishes I own didn't seem to want to do much. So it was a old Montreal Canadiens jersey magnet I pulled off the fridge.

Villains: Magneto

Hey guys,

So aside from Loki this was the first villain manicure I did after the heroes. And I wound up putting my finger in the thumb nail, whoops. That's why it looks so funky. Also I took these pictures with my fancy DSLR camera, so much better right? I really SHOULD start taking all my pics with it. We'll see, no promises. You guys may have to live with crappy point and shoot pics. Depends on how lazy I am.

I figured a magnetic polish would be appropriate for this.

Orly - Opposites Attract

Hey guys,

So a while back after buying Essie's latest magnetic polish I told myself NO MORE MAGNETIC POLISHES! You have enough! Welp, in typical Caitlin form, when I saw this magnetic Orly on BTR for cheap I couldn't control myself, what's one more? I asked myself, plus this one had a different magnetic pattern than anything in my collection.

I was actually pleasantly surprised, while I still SUCK at getting the magnetic design where I want it I really liked the colour of this polish and how it turned into a midnight blue colour with a shimmer that you don't see in the bottle. I was overall impressed.

This was 2 coats.

Sally Hansen Swatch Spam

Hey guys,

So I'm going to try to clear out some old back log so that these don't wind up getting buried for too long. So for a couple days bare with me with some old & musty back log posts so I can move on to new stuff! Yay!

This post is comprised of Christmas presents I got at Christmas (see what I mean when I say old and musty??) Each of these was given to me by one of my lovely co workers.

Essie - Sssssexy

Hey guys,

So a while ago I told myself that I wasn't going to buy any more Essie polishes, I've just never been wowed on any sort of consistant basis. Yet when I saw the Essie Snakeskin magnetic polishes I guess I couldn't stop myself. So I grabbed my go to- red. The application on this one wasn't bad at all, although I should stop with the magnetic polishes because for some reason I just can't seem to get the knack of it or get it the pattern over my whole nail. Odds are I just need to work on my technique and practice.

Overall I thought these were kind of cool. Will I buy more? no but the colours are nice and I like snakes. (If I could find the picture of my friend's corn snake wrapped around my arm I would show it to you but I have no clue where it is.) If you like magnetic polish this could be for you. Assuming you're better at applying it than I am.

TV Inspired: Game Of Thrones

Hey guys,

Today's manicure is Game of Thrones. I fricken love that show! I mean really all I need to say is Khal Drogo, The Hound, and Jon Snow. 3 perfect reasons to watch, Jaime Lannister is pretty hot too, once you get past him being a huge asswipe.

So I basically did four of the main sigils (or I tried... some are a tad abstract) Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, and Baratheon.

For this I used
Nails Inc - Carnaby Street
Essie - Turning Heads Red
Sally Hansen - Black Out
Sephora by OPI - Frankly I Don't Give A-Dam
Layla - Golden Nugget
Art Club - Yellow
Orly Instant Artist in Jet Black, Crisp White, Fiery Red

Sons Of Anarchy Manicure

Hey guys,

So tonight marks the beginning of the Sons of Anarchy season 5. Unfortunately by a stroke of misfortune we don't get the channel that plays it. So I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow so I can find it online. It breaks my heart a little bit but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I wanted to keep this pretty simple on account of it being inspired by a show full of manly men. (I may be singing the 2 and a Half men theme in my head right now. dang it)

For this I used

Sally Hansen - Black Onyx
Layla - Magneffects Golden Nugget
Quo Instant Artist - Red
Orly Instant Artist - Crisp White
Orly Instant Artist - Jet Black

Nails Inc. - Houses of Parliament

A couple days ago I did a blind reach into my bin of polishes and use the first polish I grabbed in some way. I should probably do this more often. My grab was Nails Inc. Houses of Parliament.
I'd never tried this polish before so it was perfect.

It's a purple magnetic polish.

Two coats and 2 magenetic nails later.

I totally messed up the thumbnail so it has a seam. just ignore that.

This was my better thumbnail. That dot is where the polish decided it actually wanted to jump from my nail to the magnet and I was all like NO! POLISH! so it resulted in that little dot.

Belle Manicure

So this past week I was talking to Chelsea about trying to find the Disney Designer Princess Polishes on eBay. For those who don't know me I am one of the biggest Disney freaks ever. So checking eBay I found the 10 piece set for about $60 not including shipping which was at least $10 so roughly $7 a bottle. Not too pricey, but considering this whole set retailed for $20 something in me said "No" so I let the polishes go. In talking to Miss Chelsea we decided why the heck couldn't I do Princess inspired nails??
So in honour of Beauty and the Beast coming out in 3D this month the first princess I decided to feature is Belle, Belle is one of my top two favourite Princesses (the other to be revealed later).

So I grabbed Orly Hook Up, One of the prettiest yellow shimmers I've ever seen.

And Layla Magneffect in Golden Nugget

And Color Club Take the Stage

Now the idea behind using the magnetic polish on the accent finger was to represent her iconic dress. However I wish the colour was more gold. I don't think it looks bad persay but I do think it looks out of place. I used the glitter on the tips of all the yellow nails, while using more on my thumb nail.

After taking these pictures I tried going over the magnetic polish with a thin coat of Hook Up to see if the effect would show through. Nope no go so I'm going to have to re-do my finger and I'll probably just re-do it in the yellow with glitter tips.

Overall I quite like this. Stay tuned to see which Princess is next!

Nails Inc. - Trafalgar Square

I got 2 of the Nails Inc. Magnetic Polish in my stocking this year. Here is Trafalgar Square.

This colour is really gorgeous with the magnetic effect and without.
I did find that it chipped easily but I only had a basecoat, 2 coats of polish, and one coat of SV on. Baking cupcakes, cookies, and then doing the dishes was NOT manicure friendly. This manicure didn't last nearly long enough :( but I can't wait to try it again.
You'll also notice the remnants of my snow manicure all over my skin. Too excited about this one I guess.
