Spellbound Lacquer - Medallion

Hey guys,

So I'm sitting here watching The Jetsons, yep totally makes me feel like an adult. Just kidding that will happen tomorrow when I go vote and then take a trip to the dentist. Fun stuff all around.

Today I have a polish to show you that has been sitting in my stash since Christmas. This was a random I received from my bestie Nicole, I'm pretty sure she got it in a subscription box. This is a brand I've never heard of before not to be confused with Spellbound Nails the indie brand.
This was a silver foil with a bit of a champagne hue to it. For something that sat in my untrieds for so long I quite liked this one.
This was two coats. It probably could have been one as it went on nicely but I added a second for good measure.

December Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So today we wrap up 2014, wow what a year lots of ups and lots of downs. I'm excited for 2015 hopefully we all have a fantastic year ahead of us all.

So I have the last Julep box of the year. I'm torn on this month's collection I found it to be kind of all over the place and not have a really strong personality. Although it's pretty glitzy and ritzy which is always good for December however I would have loved more rich jewel tones opposed to the more metallic colours, but that's just me.

June Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So I really didn't want this to happen, I told myself I would be good. Then it happened. I upgraded my Julep box AGAIN. This month Julep introduced their new My Maven program. All existing Mavens would have the choice to continue with their current subscription program which is you choose which box you want then you can have up to three add-ons. Or upgrade to "My Maven" and pay $25 a month and be able to customize their box, which I actually like because you can swap out a polish you don't want for one you do want. Or you can upgrade to the Maven Luxe box and pay $40 a month and get to choose more products in your box. I upgraded to the My Maven, but after looking at this month's collection I splurged. I blame the fact that this month's collection is whimsical. It's very A Midsummer's Night Dream.

A England - Excalibur 2013

Hey guys,

So today I went to the SPCA with my bestie and her parents to look at potentially adopting a dog for her. Holy crap, I just want to take them all home and snuggle them. We didn't wind up finding anyone perfect for Nicole, but it was still exciting to go and look.

So in 2012 A England re-released their Holy Grail polish with a updated version, and last year they did the same with their Excalibur polish shade. Click here for the original swatch. They didn't wind up discontinuing the old one, but here is the new one, we shall call it Excalibur 2013. This one has a lot more dimension to it, it actually reminded me a bit of OPI Designer De Better. Great application and coverage.
This was two coats.

Personal Accents - "Blue Ice"

Hey guys,

Okay so probably about six months ago my cousin told me to watch Vikings. Did I listen to him at the time? No. Should I have? Of course I should have, my cousin Alex has impeccable taste in tv. I should have known better.

Also - GO CANADA!

For my birthday my bestie gave me a 4 pack of minis by Personal Accents which is an Amway brand. None of these polishes had names so I've just been winging it here. This is the first of four. An icy blue foil. Good coverage and application here. This is two coats.

Avon - Flash

Hey guys,

Today I have the LAST Mirror Shine to show you, I'm actually pretty excited to have these OUT of my drafts. As they've been sitting there for too long. I don't have a whole lot to talk about here so looks like this will be a short and sweet post, good for a Sunday.

This one is a silvery-champagne same careful 2 coat application just like the other ones.

Avon - Blast

Hey guys,

So just as a quick heads up I'm going through some intense family stuff right now so be prepared for a interruption in blog posts. I don't foresee any problems but there is a chance that the blog may have to go on the back burner. I'll disclose a bit more later but for now that's all I'm going to say.

Today I have another Mirror Shine polish from Avon. Formula on this one was the same as the others easy application as long as you're aware of brush strokes. These polishes apply great and most all of them could almost be one coaters but I always do two coats for good measure.

Avon - Beam

Hey guys,

Yup more from the Vault today. You've seen a few of these Mirror Shine polishes by now, and I have a couple more for you in the coming days. I actually forgot how pretty this polish was, I never really wore this when I initially bought it like 100 years ago.

Not much to say here, two coats, careful application due to brush strokes. Your typical foil.

Lovely Hula Hands - Funky Flip Flops

Hey guys,

So my best friend Nicole was in Hawaii a couple weeks ago, (in hindsight I should have begged her to grab a bunch of Island Girl polishes for me) and she picked me up this polish. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect because the silver pigment in this had settled around the outside of the bottle, when I opened it up I discovered this crazy hot pink foil. I also discovered that this STUNK to high heaven, holy crap. I always roll my eyes when people (mainly boys) who complain about the smell of nail polish but there is no denying the fact that the smell is strong with this one. (Sorry I've been watching a lot of Star Wars) Anyways that being said application wasn't bad, this wanted to be a bit goopy but nothing some thinner wouldn't fix. This was two coats.

Sally Hansen - Chrome Turquoise

Hey guys,

Today I have a SUPER oldie for you guys. I don't really know why I bother posting these super old polishes, but heck if they still work why not? I don't even want to guess how old this is (at least 10 years) You can even see where this polish exploded a bit when I used to keep all my polish in a make up bag. I would need one huge effing make up bag to fit my collection in now.

This is your typical super mirror-y foil, brush stroke city but super fast dry type and opaque in one coat. However I did two just for good measure.

Avon - Glisten

Hey guys,

Today we have another polish from "The Vault" when it comes to polishes that survived my polish purge from a couple years ago there were very few polishes that I decided to keep, but I loved these Mirror Shine polishes so much I had to keep them. Plus you never know when polish trends will come back (just look at the mirror polishes Essie put out last year) I'm glad I kept these plus they come in handy for nail art.
Application on these is a bit of a pain, they dry fast and can often be totally opaque in 1 good coat but you need a steady hand because brush strokes are quite prevalent. And they are a pain in the butt to photograph.

A England A Tale of Two Grails

Hey guys,

So back before my quest to OWN ALL THE A ENGLANDS! (yes insert the Hyperbole & A Half meme here) I was never too interested in Holy Grail, yes it was a true yellowy gold but I was cool not owning it. Well then it was discontinued and replaced with the new grail. Well like most human beings, tell me I can't have something and I need it. Adina had (maybe has still) all her remaining stock of the original Holy Grail on sale for 5 pounds. And with free shipping and even with the exhange rate this was a deal so I ordered it (this was before the whole Royal Mail debacle that I will get into another time) Then I saw the new Holy Grail in NPC's rewards catalogue. So both of these were a deal for me.

More pics after the jump.

Avon - "Silver"

Hey guys,

So remember that polish no-buy I talked about a few weeks ago. Well that seems to have gone completely out the window. Seriously what is wrong with me? Oh right addiction. Well the boxing day sale at NPC got to me. I also hit up ebay and got a bunch of swatching wheels so I can finally catalogue all my polishes in swatch form as well. No doubt that'll make it easier and less daunting when friends want to pick out a polish to borrow. Also we know how much I love keeping my collections in order which will be awesome because my actual collection is insane (chaotic drawers just jumbled together, uggh I hate it) Also riddle me this batman, how can I be so OCD with my DVD collection & my polish collection yet my room literally looks like a bomb exploded.

Moving on, so this swatch has literally been sitting in my drafts box forever with it's "siblings" and I keep passing over it for more exciting manicures or polishes. Well time to set this baby free.

This is

Avon Mirror Shine - "Silver"
I actually have no clue what the real name of the polish is because the sticker on the bottom vanished sometime over the ten years of owning this polish.

OPI - Number One Nemesis

Hey guys,

So a week ago I had a Marvel movie marathon with my brother (umm yeah we're that cool) and The Amazing Spider-man was one of the movies on the docket. Frick I love that movie. Seriously how adorable is Andrew Garfield??

then I realized I still had this in my drafts. What is wrong with me? Letting all these great colours/manicures slip to the bottom of my drafts bucket?

Avon - Luminous

Hey guys,

So I'm in a huge rush so this is just going to be short and sweet.

So this polish I've actually had for about 10 years believe it or not. Still works great. Seeing how Essie just put out their Chrome/Mirror/Metallic polishes this year I figured it wasn't too out of date. That being said polish never really goes totally out of style does it?
