TV Inspired: 2 Broke Girls

Hey guys,

So tonight we have some 2 Broke Girls for you. I really love Kat Dennings and I've had more than one person tell me that her character in the show could be my (fraternal) twin. Also she has a horse in her backyard which is pretty much my dream, except I don't know if Briar would be totally cool with Breezer and Timmi invading her backyard.

I actually really liked how this turned out, the uniforms are kind of wonky and apparently I didn't feel the need to clean up at all after this one, so just look past that.

For this I used

Zoya - Lo
OPI - Step Right Up
Nails Inc - Carnaby Street
Orly - Frisky
Dollish Polish - Girls Rule, Boys Drool
NYX - Dancing Queen
Sparitual - Ice Ice Baby
Art Club in Yellow & Bright Blue
Orly Instant Artist - Crisp White
Quo Instant Artist - Red

Dollish Polish - Girls Rule, Boys Drool

Hey guys,

So starting today, I'm going to be hanging out with my nephew the golden retriever Crosby for a few days while his Momma is away visiting her sister. I feel kind of bad though because today is my baby girl Briar's 6th birthday and I had to leave her. Not before I gave her her birthday cake though so I feel slightly better.

So I think Indie polishes are fantastic there are more than a few brands I want to try super badly but I'm terrible for never actually ordering them when I get a chance so when Dollish Polish announced that for it's limited run polish Girls Rule Boys Drool, you could enter your name into a lottery. Well I thought might as well really what are the odds I'll get chosen. Well I did and this pretty baby was on it's way to me.

This is
Dollish Polish - Girls Rule, Boys Drool

For a base Sparitual - Thunder Road was used. There are 2 coats of GRBD on the thumb & ring finger. One coat on the rest. The glitter is matte and pretty dense. I have no doubt you could get this to be opaque with 3 coats. Or at least nearly opaque.

Easter Eggs

Hey guys

So I have no clue whats up with me lately I'm totally slacking.
I think I need new motivation so anyone want to issue a challenge??? like I challenge you to paint your nails using some type of crackle every day for a month? or I challenge you to do some sort of striping every day for a month.
I dunno something like that.

But anyways a bit late and apparently cleaned up horribly (I didn't notice until I was water marking these)

for my easter egg nails I used

Sparitual - Thunder Road
OPI - Sparrow Me The Drama
Orly Instant Artist - Crisp White

Pastel Spots

Hey ladies,
So I would love to tell you how my consult today went but after heading all the way downtown and killing an hour in a random (but nice and cozy) Starbucks I was to discover that my tattoo artist had gone home sick apparently without telling anyone. So we're going to try again for tomorrow.

Okay so I'm going to share with you this Pastel Sponge manicure that I really wasn't a fan of. I don't even really know why I just didn't dig it

I used
Essie - Cocktail Bling
China Glaze - Lemon Fizz
OPI - Gargantuan Green Grape
OPI - Pink Friday
Sparitual - Thunder Road

maybe because the purple turned out so close to the grey. who knows.

I used -
China Glaze - Lemon Fizz
OPI - Gargantuan Green Grape
OPI - Pink Friday
OPI - Alpine Snow
SpaRitual - Thunder Road
Essie - Matte About You

Super cute.

Rapunzel Manicure

The return of the PRINCESS nails!
I promised you guys they'd be back. I just needed a couple days to gather supplies and inspiration.
So considering on Sunday I went to see Beauty & the Beast in 3D with one of my closest friends Melissa (yes I realize I say this about mostly all of the people I mention but I swear there are only like.... 5 closest friends... maybe 6)
Anyways so considering I already did Belle nails in honour of B&TB coming out in theaters I wasn't going to repeat myself. So if you weren't aware before the movie starts there is a short a la Pixar. Except the short is "Tangled Ever After" where Rapunzel and Eugene get married, and when you add Maximus and Pascal into that equation, hilarity ensues.

So here are my "Rapunzel Nails"

I started with 2 coats of Sparitual Thunder Road.

2 Coats of OPI Sparrow Me The Drama down the center of the thumbs and the tips of the rest.

OPI Pink Friday with a striping brush (my first striping attempt) for laces.

And with the exception of my horrible bow I'm pretty happy.
Totally girly and princessy and I think the colours go together really well.

More Princess nails to come... who should I do next?

Blue Pearl Ombre

So before we start I need to tell you about the dream I had last night. So apparently I had some latent anxiety about coming to work today. Probably because the rest of the the girls in my posse are still on vacation and there was supposed to be a new girl starting. So anyways in my dream, new girl turned out to be a total putz. I had to take down 3 huge christmas trees (seriously, I needed a ladder and almost killed myself in my dream). However as a random turn of events both Mark & Donnie Wahlberg both had gotten jobs as Project Managers, and needless to say I was at my desk yelling DONNIE D! I NEEEED YOU! I NEED BACK UP! (this is where I start reciting "Good Vibrations" lyrics in my head) and THEEEENNN my alarm went off and I woke up thinking "whhhattt the f**k is THAT!?" even though my alarm has been the same for like a million months.

Okay anyways that was my crazy cracked out dream.
Needless to say when I arrived at work neither of the Walhbergs had taken a job.
On with the SHOW.

Super subtle blue ombre nails.
The photos don't really do it justice. I wasn't 100% sure I was going to like it but I'm actually loving it.

So I started with 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow (I won't post the bottle pic because I've posted it before)
Then grabbed SpaRitual She's A River
I don't think I've actually ever used this polish before and I've had it for .... too many years.
It's a opalescent pearly blue colour.

I layered it four times starting about 3/4 the way down my nail with the sections getting smaller.
Then slapped on some SV.
Heres how it turned out.
Looks better in person. I wish I could take a picture with my eyeballs

I got in a fight with the christmas tree at work which is why my hands are all beat up. Just in case you were wondering. You probably weren't.

Candy Cane Nails

Alright so after wearing this manicure for a day theres a few things I noticed.
1. It survived a trip to the barn and is chip free so it's obviously made to last.
2. It's a people pleaser (if those people like christmas... or just really like candy canes)
3. To quote Cher from Clueless "it's a full-on monet" as in totally cute from far away but a hot mess close up.

See from afar:

Hot Mess:

I'm going to try touching it up tonight a bit and see if that makes it look less sloppy.

Okay so sidebar. This isn't nail related but this is my blog and I do what I want.
So for anyone on pinterest. ENOUGH with this bucket list crap. First off I don't care, NO ONE CARES. I don't need a board full of stuff reminding me of stuff I'd love to do but is highly unlikely.
Yeah I'd like to meet Adam Levine too, I'd also like him to roll me in sprinkles and lick them off. Guess what though, it's PROBABLY not going to ever happen, and if it does it won't be because I pinned some stupid thing to a pinterest board, it'll be by sheer luck. So until then I'll just continue to pin shirtless pictures of him and day dream.
Pinterest is about the food, the DIYs, the funny pics, the pictures of baby animals, houses I'll never have, and make up I'll never figure out. Lets keep it that way.

Welcome to the madness

Okay so everyone can from here on out blame this on Chelsea. Miss "you should really start a blog" welp alright. So lets get something straight, if you want to see perfect nails... stop right there. I am far to lazy and impatient to get my nails perfect. What you will see is your average 23 (okay 22 right now but lets round up shall we?) year old girl try (and fail most of the time) different nail techniques and polishes. You'll see lots of red, lots of sparkle and lots of bright colors. I paint all oover my nail beds and my nails are right now tinted blue from a manicure I did weeks ago (whoops).
Somehow I went from being a reformed nail biter (thank god I broke that habit years ago) to a black nail polish only to a manicure chameleon.

So now that you know what to expect heres what I did tonight.
I wanted to take a crack at candy cane nails that I saw on pinterest (don't know what pinterest is? poor dear)

So I broke out my Spa Ritual Ice Ice Baby which is a pearl white.
I got this polish about a million years ago at a Beauty Expo, it's not my favourite cause it takes a while to dry (I mentioned I'm impatient right?) but it survived the great "Nail Polish Purge of 2011" due to it's name. yep I'm a sucker for Vanilla Ice, and I'm glad I kept it, it's come in handy now that I'm obsessed with winter nails.

After three coats of the white, 2 episodes of fear factor and half of Canada's Worst Driver I grabbed some painters tape and cut out strips... i should have cut skinnier stripes but well at least I have another hand, then I blocked my nails off in stripes, I kept it inconsistant because well why not.
Then I grabbed OPI Ali's Big Break a shimmery bright red. (yep you guessed it one of my faves)
and painted my nails that I had blocked off. Trick here: peel off the tape while the polish is still wet/tacky otherwise it might want to peel off with the tape. also make sure you don't press the tape down too hard or it might try to pull up the base color (I have a air bubble on my thumb because of that.)

So heres a pic from tonight it's getting late and I don't want to mess it up too bad. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow as well with it cleaned up a bit.
