TV Inspired: Charmed

Hey guys,

Today's manicure is inspired by Charmed
I still remember watching the pilot when it first aired. I tend to be a purist at heart and prefer the first couple seasons with Shannen Doherty. I'm basically a huge sucker for supernatural stuff, so take that and then add the myriad of good looking men that showed their faces over the 8 seasons and yep I'm in.

So I don't know about you guys, but if I had to pick a colour to be magical it would be purple. Don't ask me why it just seems right. On the thumb we have the triquetra that appears on the cover of the Book of Shadows and then on the middle finger we have the flower that appears above the title.

For this I used
Zoya - Lotus
Zoya - Tru
Zoya - Julieanne
Orly Instant Artist - Rockin Robin
Quo Instant Artist - Platinum Glitter

TV Inspired: Nip/Tuck

Hey guys,

First off I just want to say that I am a huge failure at a self-imposed no-buy. Seriously, lets never do this again. I've been trying to be good, I have serious impulse control problems. More on my short comings next month though.

My manicure today is inspired by one seriously screwed up yet totally awesome shows: Nip/Tuck
I loved this show (got a bit old towards the end, but hey that happens to most) it was totally screwed up and bizarre, but so awesome. Anyways this was pretty simple but follows in the vein of the opening credits

For this I used
Bed Head - Mastermind
Quo Instant Artist - Red
Orly Instant Artist - Black
Avon - Silver

TV Inspired: Hart of Dixie

Hey guys,

So Happy Valentines Day, I personally am not a fan. Pretty much since for as long as I can remember my Valentine has been one of the four-legged variety. Not to discount them, they're quite easier to love than many a human being.

Today's TV Inspired manicure I at least feel somewhat fits into the lovey dovey crap that is V-Day.
Hart of Dixie Now I've loved Rachel Bilson since The OC so I was super excited when HoD debuted. Add in Wilson Bethel & Scott Porter and you've hit the trifecta. (Can you see a pattern here?? Good looking guys significantly up how much I love a show. Sad but true.) So I've got the hearts, the bluebells, the Rammer Jammer, and of course we can't forget about the lemons!

For this I used:
SOPI - Neutral Beauty
Essie - Cute As A Button
China Glaze - Lemon Fizz
NOPI - Step 2 The Beat of My <3
Orly Instant Artist in Crisp White, Tweetheart, Leafy Green
Quo Instant Artist in Red

TV Inspired: Beauty And The Beast

Hey guys,

For today's TV Inspired manicure I have one of my new favourite shows: Beauty And The Beast.
I'm pretty much obsessed with this show, I've never been a huge Kristin Kreuk fan but I love her in this, and well obviously Jay Ryan is a babe (even when he's all beasted out)

I really struggled with how to do this manicure and what I wanted to do and of course none of my friends watch this so no one could give me any sort of ideas, so I was on my own. I did this while watching the show so I think that helped a bit. We have Vincent and the scarred side of his face, and a rose representing Catherine. I know roses aren't big in this show but I tried doing the side of her face and totally blew it. I liked the dark colours in this one because the show is a much darker grittier version of the classic fairy tale.

For this I used

Essence - Chic Reloaded
piCture pOlish - O'Hara
Art Club - Yellow
Orly Instant Artist in Crisp White & Jet Black
Quo Instant Artist in Red

TV Inspired: 2 Broke Girls

Hey guys,

So tonight we have some 2 Broke Girls for you. I really love Kat Dennings and I've had more than one person tell me that her character in the show could be my (fraternal) twin. Also she has a horse in her backyard which is pretty much my dream, except I don't know if Briar would be totally cool with Breezer and Timmi invading her backyard.

I actually really liked how this turned out, the uniforms are kind of wonky and apparently I didn't feel the need to clean up at all after this one, so just look past that.

For this I used

Zoya - Lo
OPI - Step Right Up
Nails Inc - Carnaby Street
Orly - Frisky
Dollish Polish - Girls Rule, Boys Drool
NYX - Dancing Queen
Sparitual - Ice Ice Baby
Art Club in Yellow & Bright Blue
Orly Instant Artist - Crisp White
Quo Instant Artist - Red

TV Inspired: Doctor Who

Hey guys,

Today's manicure is Doctor Who I am a huge Doctor Who fan, and if you follow me on Pinterest or Instagram you'll know this (and obviously if you know me in person) I have a TARDIS bobble buddy on my monitor at work, along with a handmade charging station that I made. The rule is pretty much if it's got anything to do with a Time Lord I'm all over it. Plus I'll never get back all the tears I've cried over that show.

For this manicure I kept it pretty simple, I used a couple DW inspired (or just named) polishes and then I have (half of) the TARDIS, the new logo and then the 11th Doctor's bowtie.

For this I used:
OPI - Dating A Royal
Cult Nails - Time Traveler
Dollish Polish - It's Bigger On The Inside
Bed Head - Master Mind
China Glaze - Mahogany Magic
Orly Instant Artist in True Blue, Jet Black & Crisp White
Quo Instant Artist - Red

TV Inspired: Greek

Hey guys,

So today's TV mani is based on the ABC Family show (that didn't last NEARLY long enough) Greek
I loved this show, great characters, fun storyline and lets be honest: Scott Michael Foster and Jake McDorman are cuties!

So for this I featured the three main Greek houses of the show, Zeta Beta Zeta, Kappa Tau Gamma, Omega Chi Delta. And then one lesser fraternity Lambda Sigma Omega. So I scoured the web and found the Greek House colours (or at least according to the Greek wiki anyways)

It's not my best but it was fun and it gave me a really good excuse to pop in a Greek dvd and swoon over Cappie.

For this I used
OPI - Ogre The Top Blue
OPI - Pedal Faster Suzi
China Glaze - Lemon Fizz
China Glaze - Mahogany Magic
Zoya - Skylar
Zoya - LC
A England - Holy Grail (Original)
Orly Instant Artist in Crisp White, Lovey Dovey
Quo Instant Artist - Red

TV Inspired: American Restoration

Hey guys,

So when it comes to TV I will watch almost anything (anything but Cake Boss.... I can't stand him) one of my favourite channels is the History Channel, with Pawn Stars, American Pickers & American Restoration, they've hit the jackpot (Counting Cars is great too) so this manicure is dedicated to my favourite of the three: American Restoration I love watching them bring stuff back to life. Plus Tyler & Brettly are pretty adorable too.

So for this manicure if you watch the show you should be able to appreciate this.
the index finger is the old rusted Coke machine, the middle is the Coke machine sandblasted. The ring finger is the Coke machine painted. The pinky is the final product.

For this I used
Essie - Turning Heads Red
China Glaze - Desert Sun
China Glaze - Hook and Line
Orly Instant Artist - Crisp White
Quo Instant Artist - Red

TV Inspired: Smallville

Hey guys,

Today's TV manicure is: Smallville. Now anyone who knows me knows I am a huge Superman fan, and when Smallville debuted back in 2001 I watched it religiously. Then somewhere around season 6 I lost interest and got tired, not because I didn't still love the characters (okay Chloe drove me nuts) but because I am a terrible victim of mid-season lulls. Those mid-season breaks kill me and I have a tendancy to lose interest. However around season 9 I began watching again, and rewatched all the episodes back from the pilot and re-fell in love and finished the series out through the 10th and final season.

So this manicure showcases the earlier days of Smallville.
We have the Kryptonian symbol etched in the wall of the cave, the Smallville High colours, and of course Kryptonite.

For this I used
China Glaze - Stone Cold
NYX - Blood
Nails Inc - Carnaby Street
piCture pOlish - Kryptonite
Art Club - Yellow
Quo Instant Artist - Platinum Glitter

Green Ornament Manicure

Hey guys,

So I got my baking done today! Okay "baking" may be a bit of a cop out considering I only made one type of cookie from scratch, the rest came from a package. Oh well as far as I'm concerned baking is baking! The guys will get what they're gonna get, and if they don't like it well then next year they get NOTHING haha. I don't know who I'm kidding.

Well I hope everyone is super stoked for Christmas! only 8 days away! (The countdown to Christmas on the ABC Family website MIGHT just be my favourite thing right now.) Memo to everyone it's also 8 Days until my birthday just incase anyone forgot!

For this I used

Zoya - Holly
Quo Instant Artist - Platinum Glitter

Snowflake Manicure

Hey guys,

So it's freakin cold outside today. -27 with the windchill. So I'm spending the day in the basement, on the heating pad, swatching a bunch of Cult Nails polishes. WOOO.
While watching Dad wrap christmas presents because I'm horrendous at it. :)

This was my first legit winter manicure of the year and I loved it. Reality is I probably should have let it live longer than just one day. Oh well.

For this I used

China Glaze - Frostbite
Orly Instant Artist - Crisp White
Quo Instant Artist - Platinum Glitter

Las Vegas Manicure

Hey guys,

So a while back I tasked two of my best friends with giving me ideas for manicures. Nicole suggested that I do Las Vegas themed nails. Which lead Chelsea to suggest that I do a series of Location themed nails. Well that hasn't happened yet but I apparently never got around to posting these.

A city themed series could possibly be coming to an Addicted To lacquer blog near you in the new year. We shall see.

For this I used

Essie - Blanc
Orly Instant Artist - Jet Black
Quo Instant Artist - Red
OPI - Servin' Up The Sparkle
Zoya - Gia

Sons Of Anarchy Manicure

Hey guys,

So tonight marks the beginning of the Sons of Anarchy season 5. Unfortunately by a stroke of misfortune we don't get the channel that plays it. So I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow so I can find it online. It breaks my heart a little bit but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I wanted to keep this pretty simple on account of it being inspired by a show full of manly men. (I may be singing the 2 and a Half men theme in my head right now. dang it)

For this I used

Sally Hansen - Black Onyx
Layla - Magneffects Golden Nugget
Quo Instant Artist - Red
Orly Instant Artist - Crisp White
Orly Instant Artist - Jet Black

Olympic Manicure

Hey guys,

So today I was watching the Women's soccer semi finals game. (USA vs Canada)
I'm going to start this off by saying that both teams played incredibly well. It always amazes me how the players can be rolling on the ground in pain one moment then ripping around after the ball moments later, talk about hardcore athletes. I was totally unhappy about the refereeing though. Seriously that ref could not have seemed any more biased towards the US team. Now while I'm not saying that team USA shouldn't have won (like I said they were one half of an incredible game) I'm super happy about how team Canada played and that they came so close to having a shot at the gold.

This is my Olympic themed manicure.
for this I used

Bed Head - Master Mind (white base)
Quo Instant Artist - Red
Orly Instant Artist - Jet Black
Art Club - Neon Green
Art Club - Yellow
Art Club - Neon Blue

Burberry Nails

Hey guys

Umm so I've been baking all morning so I'm just going to make this short and sweet.

So I had done these nails on Jill a few weeks ago and I decided it was time to do them on myself.
I freehanded all the lines so some are a bit funky.

I used
Sephora by OPI - Neutral Beauty
Orly Nail Art - Jet Black
Quo by Orly - Red
