Pocahontas Manicure

For some reason it feels like I haven't blogged in forever... when in reality it was yesterday. I also woke up thinking it was Thursday so apparently my inner clock is seriously out of whack.

So theres one more week of Princess nails for you all and about ... 4? 5? (I dunno something like that) princesses still to go. Can you name them?
Today's Disney Princess is Pocahontas. I had a Disney marathon about a month ago and watched Pocahontas. I forgot how much I loved that movie, I remember when it came out I had the Thermos and Lunch kit. Yep I was THAT cool kid. Don't be jealous.
Obviously Pocahontas won't be over the top, I thought about trying to do the colourful leaves on my ring finger, but decided against it.

I started with OPI - My Private Jet
not the awesome Charcoal Holo, the more charcoal-brown shimmer. That's the one I have.

Then added a stripe of OPI-Warm & Fozzie down the center of the nails.

It's kind of hard to see in the pictures (It was kind of hard to see IRL but looked really pretty) so there are a few more pics than normal.

Chelsea wanted to see it with a matte topcoat. I personally wasn't a fan of the way it looked over MPJ but it really shows the the stripe.

Tomorrow I have my first RIP Polish Post :( so stay tuned for that.

GOSH - Golden Dragon

I've just watched an excessive amount of FRIENDS as I write this (I'm almost done Season 1 and I just started today after work)... and this is going to gross Jill out but I love Ross, yes he's a schmuck, and a geek and a dweeb but I find him ridiculously endearing and charming. Judge me if you like, I'm cool with it. I also sort of feel like the theme song could be the theme song to my life right now.... if I was singing it to myself?? Whatever.

Today I have GOSH - Golden Dragon for you. A Green/Gold Duochrome.
I obviously bought it for it's name. Hi my name is Caitlin and I like dragons.

Super pretty. Love it!

Snow White Manicure

So as I write this I feel like I've been up forever. Somehow Jill managed to talk me into going to ride at 9:00 this morning so we could get into the arena before lessons. Considering my usual Sunday plans don't involve leaving my bed before 10:30, I'm not entirely sure how she managed to talk me into getting up at 8:00. Oh right she bribed me with Starbucks and a bagel from Tim Horton's... yes she actually had to go to 2 different coffee places to entice me to leave my nice warm bed. It was worth it though, I got to give snuggles to both my boys.

Okay next Princess up is Snow White, I seriously seriously dislike Snow White I pretty much just can't handle her voice. Why is it so high pitched??
I couldn't leave her out though.

Orly Au Champagne + OPI Wocka Wocka! = Snow White

There's a really good chance that Orly Au Champagne just became my new favourite White Frost.
... it did.

I initially tried using scotch tape to make all the lines straight but it adhered a little too well to the white and pulled up all the polish with it so I just free handed it. Not my best work but CERTAINLY not my worst either.

Orly Sweet Peacock

The other day Chelsea was telling me I needed to promote my blog more. I don't know why I have such a hard time with this, maybe it's because I feel like most of my friends have to suffer through my opinion in person? Maybe with exposure comes critics? Seriously I'm not sure but today I'm going to shamelessly plug my blog on facebook. In fact thats probably exactly what I am going to say.  For some stupid reason the thought makes my tummy go all bubbly... or that could potentially be all the sugar I ingested today while baking Blue Suede cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting. (Blue suede is just like red velvet except they're blue and Elvissy, and therefore: awesome)

Okay so insecure crazy moment over here is Orly Sweet Peacock.

Princess nails return tomorrow!

Ariel Manicure

So when Jill spent New Years in Hawaii she brought me back two polishes from her travels,
these are Island Girl polishes. From the research I've done they're only available from ABC Stores that are located in Hawaii and apparently Las Vegas (I will be keeping my eyes peeled next time I head to Vegas) and are supposed to be super good priced. After trying these out there's a good chance that Chelsea may have sweet talked her lovely friend Nicole (not my Nicole... different Nicole... a bit confusing) into picking us up some more. I sure hope she does. That would be delightful!!!
this is the display pic Jill texted me.

All I can say is.... *DROOL*
Anyways with the polishes she brought me I thought what better colours to use in my Ariel nails? Even though Ariel is supposed to be Dutch... we're going to overlook that fact and pretend she lives in Hawaii.

These polishes dried with a sort of satin finish (exactly like Orly Passionfruit which I am STILL trying to find in my house) I wanted to show you before I threw a top coat on

This is my first sponge on gradient. I got better as I went along. Also I still don't have a dotter tool so I was using the end of a paint brush... I'm not sure what I was going for on the thumb there so I didn't bother doing it on my other thumb (I've included both pics) The purple is Sparitual - Thunder Road the same as in the Rapunzel Manicure.

I'll be trying the sponge gradient again!! I think I got the technique down. And if you're wondering why my nail beds are shiny it's just vaseline. yay for moisturizing!!

Award?? Say What??

So let me preface this post with this little fact:
I was having an awful cranky crampy day. When I randomly peeked at my blog and saw something that shocked me...

this:
Claudia from "Claudia ~ Beauty & Fashion" actually gave my tiny little blog an award.
Let me tell you this made my day. I'm thoroughly aware that I can count my entire blog audience on one hand. So the thought that someone other than people who I've bullied into reading this actually enjoys my semi-insane ramblings. If you haven't already do yourself a favour and check out Claudia's blog, she's adorable. Seriously.

Here are the rules:
You must thank the person that has awarded you, including a shout out and a link back to their blog.
Share 7 random facts about yourself
Send the blog for 15 other bloggers who's blogs you love and let them know about it.
7 random facts about me:
1. I won't eat anything that comes out of a body of water.
2. I have a ridiculous memory when it comes to song lyrics. I can't  tell you what I had for breakfast but I know every single word to like 1 billion songs (exaggerating seems less obnoxious than trying to guesstimate the actual number)
3. I was a huge Drama geek in high school, I wasn't very good but I had a blast.
4. Both my knees are seriously screwed up from riding. I'll probably need a walker or a wheelchair when I'm old.
5. I hate socks, but I hate cold feet more.
6. I love to two-step, but only with guys who are good at it... and don't drop/let me go.
7. I wear ear plugs during concerts and I'm pretty sure people judge me.

The bloggers I award are:
(I'm not telling them, because 1: I'm a rule-breaker, 2: I'm lazy and currently sleepy)
This are my fave blogs to read. Lots of them are pretty popular but whatever.

2. http://www.glittagloves.com/

Nails Inc. - Houses of Parliament

A couple days ago I did a blind reach into my bin of polishes and use the first polish I grabbed in some way. I should probably do this more often. My grab was Nails Inc. Houses of Parliament.
I'd never tried this polish before so it was perfect.

It's a purple magnetic polish.

Two coats and 2 magenetic nails later.

I totally messed up the thumbnail so it has a seam. just ignore that.

This was my better thumbnail. That dot is where the polish decided it actually wanted to jump from my nail to the magnet and I was all like NO! POLISH! so it resulted in that little dot.
