February Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So I have to confess, I may have upgraded my Julep Maven box again this month. Well that makes it sound like I do it all the time and that isn't the truth. I really love though now how you have the option to upgrade and get only the polishes, so if you don't want the product you can just get all the polish for a bit cheaper.

You'll notice that my thumb nail is wonky and short in most of the pictures. Yep that was the decimation of my thumb nail.

This month's collection is called Dramatic.

Deborah Lippmann - Stronger

Hey guys,

So I think I finally worked out my horse show schedule this summer, and between shows and cousin's weddings I am going to be ridiculously poor for the year. I'm sure it will be buttloads of fun and definitely worth it but it also means I can look forward to buying VERY little polish and not being to spontaneous with anything. Yay.

So I bought this on New Years eve as a present to myself. This is JUST SO SPARKLY. Like a dumb dumb I insisted on trying to build this up. It needed a base colour. But it is so pretty! There is so much sparkle to the holographic glitter. I just wish the blue jelly base was a bit more opaque.
This was 4 coats.

Beautifully Disney - Something Sassy

Hey guys,

So I don't think it needs saying but I'm going to say it anyways, ENOUGH with the cold weather. While I generally pride myself on sticking out our frigid winters pretty well, after a while it just gets old.
Like the song goes "take me somewhere, sunny and 75" okay I wasn't actually sure how warm 75 degrees was so I googled it and it's just over 23 degrees, which I could totally go for. Seriously though Fahrenheit makes no sense.

So this is a gold shimmer glitter topper, slightly less dense than Star Struck. As far as the gold glitter goes it's definitely a bit more of the neutral side of gold and less yellow. Overall I liked it.
This is one coat over taupe.

Beautifully Disney - Star Struck

Hey guys,

So I totally thought I had posted this already but apparently this and another Beautifully Disney post (which I will post tomorrow) got pushed to the bottom of my drafts. I love these Disney polishes and would really love to get my hands on more.

When I spotted this one, there was no doubt in my mind that this was coming home with me. This is a super dense red glitter polish. I wasn't entirely sure how this would cover so I layered it over a darker red polish, the coverage was great. There is no doubt in my mind this would have built up easily.

Julep - Chelsea

Hey guys,

So I'm finally getting caught up on my American Horror Story, the opening credits freak me out. Seriously the rest of the show is totally fine but that 59 seconds or whatever just freaks me right out. Anyone with me?

This swatch is dedicated to my girl Chelsea who is the reason I started this blog, and the reason I've come a really long way from where I started.
This is a multi shade purple micro glitter. The glitter coverage on this one is great.
This is one coat over light blue.

#WeAreWinter

Hey guys,

So that time has come, the Olympic games are over. I have been up since 2 AM watching Bobsled, and then I was awake with the rest of the country at 5 AM for the gold medal men's hockey game.
Part of me is excited to get back to a normal sleep schedule but I am also going to be fairly bummed out that the excitement is over. There is something really special about feeling like you are a part of something bigger.

Today's manicure seemed appropriate.
So here is my #WeAreWinter manicure. (yes I know I messed up the R, oh well)

Julep - Eva

Hey guys,

Did anyone else see what awful crash in Bobsled this morning? I am so heartbroken for my Bobsled boyfriends. I'm so very glad they are okay and were able to walk away from that with hopefully only wounded pride. I hope they can still finish.

So this was a polish Julep sent me by accident, on account of their mistake they gave me the polish as a gift. This is a pretty gorgeous bright pink. Good solid coverage and application.
This is 2 coats.

Personal Accents - "Blue Ice"

Hey guys,

Okay so probably about six months ago my cousin told me to watch Vikings. Did I listen to him at the time? No. Should I have? Of course I should have, my cousin Alex has impeccable taste in tv. I should have known better.

Also - GO CANADA!

For my birthday my bestie gave me a 4 pack of minis by Personal Accents which is an Amway brand. None of these polishes had names so I've just been winging it here. This is the first of four. An icy blue foil. Good coverage and application here. This is two coats.

Rainbow Honey - Mystery Sample

Hey guys,

So big day for Canada in the Olympics, talk about an Epic comeback in women's hockey. USA played a great game, and we were all freaking out for a while. That empty goalpost save. HOLY CRAP! We all freaked.

So in with my birthday/Christmas present from Melissa was a Mystery Grab bag from Rainbow Honey. Inside was this Mystery Sample polish. I have no clue what this polish is called but MAN was it a weird one to describe. It is a charcoal jelly base that has green/purple duochrome flakies in it. It wasn't at all what I expected it to be. Definitely better than I expected. For some reason not knowing the name of this really weirds me out. This was 3 coats.

Julep - Rosa - February Birthstone

Hey guys,

So YAY I'm finally done my sleeve. I will post pics once it's healed.

Also this month I am on track for Julep's birthstone!
I've grown up knowing that February is Amethyst, as it was one of 3 birthstones I had to remember growing up since it was my Dad's.

I expected this to be in the same vein as Betty, and be super full coverage. This was way more of a glitter topper and I should have used a base colour to fill in the bald spots. The base had very little tint to it.
This is 4 coats.

Rainbow Honey - Linger

Hey guys,

So I am currently getting tattooed as I type this. Woah look at me multitasking like a badass. Fingers crossed this is the end of my sleeve. I would like for it to be awesome and finished. That would be great.

Anyways so I have another Rainbow Honey polish to show you guys. This is a red and purpley glitter topper in a bit of a tinted shimmer base. That's why I showed it over one black nail.
This is one coat over red and black.

Rainbow Honey - Summer Blossom

Hey guys,

Sometimes I miss the simplicity of having square or squoval nails. It seems like filing your nails to a slightly rounded point shouldn't be that hard. And it isn't. Until you notice one day that one of the points is slightly off center - but only when you look from a certain angle. Or you have a way lopsided nail. Oh well one day I'll get it right.

So for some reason I put off wearing this polish for a long time. I think I just felt the season wasn't right. I was prepared to not like it. Yellow and orange isn't always my jam. That being said. I totally wound up liking this. I like the flower glitters. They were a bit hard to fish out but it was doable. This is 2 coats (with big glitter placement) over Julep Marjorie.

Julep - Estelle

Hey guys,

So I am very much still mourning the loss of my thumbnail and can't wait until it grows out of this funky awkward stage. You'll see it in my Julep Maven box post at the end of the month. Of course having one funky nail has never stopped me from swatching or anything like that before, because I have low standards or whatever.

This a gorgeous jam packed black micro glitter. This was 3 coats. You could probably get away with 2 but I did three for good measure. This one is also a topcoat eater. You could almost get away with this as a textured polish.

Enchanted Polish - Castle on a Cloud

Hey guys,

I just had a swatch party! And by that I mean I swatched a bunch of polish while watching ski jumping. Woohoo! Also my thumb nail on my swatching hand got DECIMATED last night, by a very cute puppy named Bruce. but needless to say it is SHORT. Ugh heartbroken. Oh well at least my thumbnail grows pretty quick.

I have another Enchanted Polish for you guys, man I really love EP's so beautiful. This is from their Castles collection. This is a blue & pink with a bit of yellow duochrome with a pretty strong holo.
This is 2 coats over black.
