December Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So since December is my birthday month and I was into this month's box I decided to treat myself and use my Jules for a full polish upgrade (ALL THE POLISH) and then a couple add ons of their new Whipped Lip mousses, and a cuticle oil which I love.

Essie Sleek Stick - Sneek-e

Hey guys,

So these were given to me by my friend Nicole to try out since she always has gel nails so she really has no use for these.

Since they are Essie I was SO hoping that they would be the nail polish strips and not just flipping nail stickers.
No dice, these are stickers. Which means I'm probably going to hate them.

Sure enough I was hoping these puppies would last through my horse show in June but NOPE they lasted a DAY before they were peeling right off. I like the idea and the pattern but I HATE the stickers. They just don't last. After these peeled off I went and stole some old Sally Hansen nail strips my mom had gotten for christmas a couple years ago (You snooze you lose mom) And those worked perfect. Skip Essie, go for Sally Hansen

Esmaltes Da Kelly - Cruella de Vil

Hey guys,

Now really you guys know how I feel about villains - I Love 'em!
I tried to get every Disney polish I could from this brand when I ordered. Easier said than done, these were almost ALL sold out.
Cruella was the only villain I could snag. Admittedly she isn't my favourite but she is fabulous.

This is a silver holo glitter bomb. Pretty much the silver equivilent to Belle. I probably should have worn this over black but I think I was expecting there to be a bit of a base colour.
None the less three coats in and this was more or less pretty opaque.

Beautifully Disney - Tangled Web Set

Hey guys,

So when I was in Disney World in February I picked up three different nail polish sets, basically any one I could get my hands on. Since picking them up they have since discontinued the beauty line which crushes me since Disney and Nail polishes are two of my favourite things. And now you can only get them for $$$ on ebay. Soul crushing.

This is the first of the three sets I have to show you. The villain inspired sets and you guys know how I feel about Villains

Spellbound Lacquer - Medallion

Hey guys,

So I'm sitting here watching The Jetsons, yep totally makes me feel like an adult. Just kidding that will happen tomorrow when I go vote and then take a trip to the dentist. Fun stuff all around.

Today I have a polish to show you that has been sitting in my stash since Christmas. This was a random I received from my bestie Nicole, I'm pretty sure she got it in a subscription box. This is a brand I've never heard of before not to be confused with Spellbound Nails the indie brand.
This was a silver foil with a bit of a champagne hue to it. For something that sat in my untrieds for so long I quite liked this one.
This was two coats. It probably could have been one as it went on nicely but I added a second for good measure.

April Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

Today I have Julep's April maven box to show you guys. I love spring colours! I wanted to love this whole collection and upgrade. However there was a few dupes in the collection so instead I just picked two polishes that stood out, and got the sea salt spray for hair which I've wanted to try for a while. Then added on their new silver holo. Why did I do that? because I'm crazy

Nicole by OPI - Be Awesome

Hey guys,

So I want to apologize for the erratic posting. I am just slammed with projects outside of my nail life. So I'm going to do my best to keep things rolling but if there are more weeks like this please forgive me!

Today I have a pretty glitter top coat to show you. This one was a birthday gift from my buddy Jazmin. Normally any sort of glitter that isn't hex or circles can be a pain in the but or ugly (I'm looking at you bar glitter) but this was actually awesome. I did a bit of glitter placement with the brush but over all there wasn't too much fiddling. This was one "placed" coat over blue.

Julep - Chatoya

Hey guys,

Today I have the last of the winter Juleps to show you.

This is a dark silver glitter polish that goes with every single one of the other winter Juleps as a beautiful topper. I put off wearing this one for a while but I quite loved the way it looked. Spring is a silly time to wear this because obviously it is perfect for winter. Great glitter pay off too.

December Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So today we wrap up 2014, wow what a year lots of ups and lots of downs. I'm excited for 2015 hopefully we all have a fantastic year ahead of us all.

So I have the last Julep box of the year. I'm torn on this month's collection I found it to be kind of all over the place and not have a really strong personality. Although it's pretty glitzy and ritzy which is always good for December however I would have loved more rich jewel tones opposed to the more metallic colours, but that's just me.

Dollish Polish - Frakkin' Toasters

Hey guys,

So tonight I had my first legit back in action lesson with my horse since coming out of our retirement. Thank god for my coach who took pity on my seriously out of shape ass. Otherwise I might not be able to walk tomorrow.

Today I have what I thought would be my favourite polish out of the new DP collection seeing as I am a huge BSG nerd. I've talked before about how I have so many silver holos, I expected the holo in this to be much stronger however this is more of a silver foil with a scatter holo effect. The holo is pretty weak in this one. It was also a pain in the ass to apply, even with the aquabase it wanted to drag all over the place. Thicker coats seemed to fix this though.

Inspired by the Cylon robots, this is an intense metallic silver scattered holo!

This is two coats

Dollish Polish - The Deathly Hallows

Hey guys,

Well I've officially had to chop down my nails because of the crack in my index finger. I just couldn't keep swatching over the patch which I had to redo. That being said it should work out perfectly because this way they can have some time to grow while I'm on vacation and I won't be able to swatch anyways.

Today I have the Harry Potter polish to show you guys, like the GoT polish this isn't the only Harry Potter inspired polish Dolly has made, the first being Expecto Patronum. Honestly I really liked the idea and the look behind this glitter topper. my problem with this was the INSANE shrinkage I had with this. I didn't even use a quick dry top coat because I used a coat of glitter food, I have no clue what part of the equation made this shrink so badly. I literally had a half centimeter of shrinkage from my nail bed when I woke up in the morning. You can already see the shrinkage in the photos beginning.

Inspired by the deathly hallows symbol itself, this glitter topper has silver holographic bars, representing the elder wand, silver triangles, representing the invisibility cloak, and silver doughnut glitters representing the resurrection stone, all floating in a sea of holo goodness!

This is two dabbed coats (I had to do some fishing for the doughnuts) as a glitter topper.

Digital Nails - Supernova

Hey guys,

So today my pooch is doing a lot better, our vet came out and now she has some meds and gets to live on hamburger for a week! She's actually pretty stoked on the boiled hamburger. Way more than I would be if I were her. On another note I just saw a preview for Sharknado 2 and I can't stop laughing but seriously I haven't seen the first one but it blows my mind. That being said who doesn't love Steve from BH 90210?

I have another gorgeous Digital Nails polish today! This was another surprise mini from the wonderful Raph! Now I don't think anyone should miss out on the story behind this polish so pulled from the etsy listing here it is:
I knew I had something special on my hands the moment I mixed this glitter into base. It's gorgeous in the bag but it looks like most other silver holo glitters, rainbow-filled and blinding. Lots of times, the true rainbow effect gets lost in the base. The light just can't reflect on the surface of the glitter like it could, and the effect is dulled. That is not the case with this glitter.
Upon opening the first bottle I mixed and applying it to my nails, I'm pretty sure I said something along the lines of HOLY @#$%.

I couldn't have explained it any better, this is so sparkly and my lightbox was hating on it so much I actually went outside to take pics. ME, the VAMPIRE.
This is two coats over black.

Dollish Polish - Crystal Empire

Hey guys,

So unreal game tonight. Way to pull out a win Habs! Woo hoo! Sorry I'm excited. Today was a crazy day, we went out for lunch to say farewell to one of my coworkers but because it was a longer lunch, it felt like a Friday, and as a result I had very little motivation for the rest of the day. And then I cried laughing at this stupid thing then thought I may have been going crazy, but then my coworker also cried laughing at it so I felt better.

So initially when this was released I didn't pick it up, I think it came out around the same time that I had just invested in Rainbow Honey's whole MLP collection so I figured I had enough MLP inspired polishes, well clearly I changed my mind. I actually love this one. It's a mixture of blue, purple, pink glitters of all shapes and sizes. This may not have been the best colour to swatch it over since there were pink square glitters in it the exact same shade of pink but it was so pretty. The big stars, moons & circles weren't actually that hard to fish out. This is two coats over OPI - Kiss Me I'm Brazilian

Julep - Mila

Hey guys,

So I am super stoked that Spring is finally here, but with spring comes the BUGS. I swear our house is infested with fruit flies and I have NO clue where they care coming from. We don't leave food out, we don't have many house plants. I have turned into a cat who sits chasing fruit flies. So annoying.

This is a polish I have been sitting on for a while. I bought it because I love Mila Kunis and I'm just going to assume that is who it is named after, that being said I was fairly underwhelmed with this. It's just a mainly silver with rainbow glitter - glitter topper. Nothing super special here.

A England - Excalibur 2013

Hey guys,

So today I went to the SPCA with my bestie and her parents to look at potentially adopting a dog for her. Holy crap, I just want to take them all home and snuggle them. We didn't wind up finding anyone perfect for Nicole, but it was still exciting to go and look.

So in 2012 A England re-released their Holy Grail polish with a updated version, and last year they did the same with their Excalibur polish shade. Click here for the original swatch. They didn't wind up discontinuing the old one, but here is the new one, we shall call it Excalibur 2013. This one has a lot more dimension to it, it actually reminded me a bit of OPI Designer De Better. Great application and coverage.
This was two coats.
