July Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

So things have been kind of crazy lately, I feel like I go into every weekend being like YAY no plans - relaxing time. Nope, I feel like I've been going non-stop. I've also been super emotional for the past few days, then today when I heard that we found a buyer for my Dad's truck for some reason that got me super choked up. I guess this is all part of the healing process right?

Sorry I had to get that out and I feel like you guys pretty much just understand me. I also broke a nail down to the quick today. Thank goodness it was on my Cinderella hand. I was heaving a giant bag around and didn't even notice when it happened. Oh well.

Today I have my July Julep Maven box to show you.
This month I got the It Girl box.

OPI - Jinx

Hey guys,

So with this we wrap up Textured Week (and a couple days)
This is the last Bond Girl liquid sand, and this one actually really surprised me, for some reason I really didn't expect to like this, maybe because I'm not always an orange person? Who knows anyways I wound up really liking this. Maybe it was the gold sparkle?

This applied in two coats.
Note the pics for this were taken after a day of wear so please excuse the slight tip wear on my middle finger.

Zoya - Miranda

Hey guys,

So I know I said it was Textured Week but I still have two more textured polishes to show you. 3 if you include the Sea Salt polish that will be included in this month's Julep Maven post on Wednesday.

This is the last Summer PixieDust I have to show you guys (at least until I pick up more maybe)

This is a magenta sparkle pixiedust. This is the only one in this week of Textured polishes that required 3 coats to really build up. You probably could get away with two though if you apply it a bit thicker.

China Glaze - Itty, Bitty & Gritty

Hey guys,

So I'm currently done with my massive untried pile, and while I am waiting for a handful of new polishes now I'm working SUPER hard not to buy more since I am super stoked about what I have in store for you guys. If you follow me on IG there is a possibility that you may get an odd sneak peek. So far only my girl Melissa knows what I'm up to, and she is pretty excited.

So I really hope to be able to acquire more of these CG Texture polishes because I LOVE them. I picked this one up with my NPC points.

This is a bright coral polish. I applied very much like Bump & Grind, a little thick but not hard at all to work with. This was two coats.

OPI - Pussy Galore

Hey guys,

So first you'll probably notice I changed the look of my blog (again) I felt like I needed something a bit cleaner, I think I like this.

Alright so if you don't giggle when you read/hear/say Pussy Galore... What is wrong with you? Yes I am secretly a 5 year old boy.

This was a polish I knew I had to have just because the name makes me giggle. Now let me tell you about this. This frosty pink looks TOTALLY unspectacular in pictures, I haven't seen any pics of it that pick up the bright pink microglitter that is buried within the frosty pink. So if you can go find a bottle IRL and take a peek, it truly IS pretty.

This is two coats.

Zoya - Liberty

Hey guys,

So today I have a truly GORGEOUS PixieDust for you guys. This was the first time I actually had the same polish on my nails and my toes at the same time! (This wears amazing well on toes... fingers too)

So this amazing blue polish went on in two coats. Yet when it came to taking it off it left HUGE blue stains on my nails despite my basecoat. So I definitely suggest doubling up on basecoat and taking care when removing, unless of course you dig Smurf fingers.

China Glaze - Bump & Grind

Hey guys,

So initially I was skeptical about what China Glaze was going to do with their textured line. People seemed divided, some loved the non sparkle of the collection while others hated it. I figured I'd start with one polish and go from there.

Verdict: I LOVED it! Something about the bright gritty polish just makes me happy.
This is two coats. This wants to apply kind of thick but isn't hard to work with.

OPI - Solitaire

Hey guys,

Today I have another Bond Girls Liquid sand for you guys, This one may have been my favourite out of the Mini pack.
This is a frosty white that is sprinkled with silver micro glitter.
The application was pretty typical for a liquid sand, one thin coat to start then a second thicker coat.

Zoya - Stevie

Hey guys,

So I have been insanely obsessed with American Ninja Warrior lately like totally binge watching whatever I can get my hands on! It is actually blowing my mind, the athleticism of these competitors almost make me want to work out... Almost.

Anyways moving on. So along with OPI's Liquid Sands come Zoya's answer to the textured challenge: PixieDusts! Today's post comes from Zoya's Summer PixieDust collection. Unlike their Spring Pixie Dust collection I just grabbed 3 from this, I may grab a couple others in the future but for now I'm good with the three I got.

This is a lilac sparkle, This applied in 2 coats. No problems with application.

OPI - Vesper

Hey guys,

So these have been sitting in my drafts for a while I wanted to save them for "Textured Week" I debated posting all the Liquid Sands in one post but thought I'll just do them separately.
So as you'll all remember a couple months back I changed my nail shape from square/squoval to almond/stiletto. In this post I will show you why.

When OPI released their Bond Girls liquid sands collection I was stoked, I knew I had to control myself and not get them all so I just decided to get the Minis.
This is a deep dark purple that as you apply it almost looks like it won't dry with a sparkle but yet as it dries the sparkle comes out.
This was two coats.

Below is the big gouge that prompted a nail shape change. While cleaning up a office in Fort Mac, I took a chunk out of my nail, of course being in Fort Mac for the day meant I didn't have a nail file with me so I had to go all day with this.

Orly - Space Cadet

Hey guys,

Okay so for REAL this is the last Orly I have well, for right now anyways.
This is one I've seen for a while but I was never stoked enough to pull the trigger.
This one is kind of similar to Royal Velvet except the shimmer on this is bigger and has a colour shift of it's own. I'm not entirely sure how much I love this one. It kind of doesn't do much for me, but I'll let you guys decide.

This was two coats with one coat of SV, the first coat goes on kinda sheer but the second coat builds up nicely.

Deborah Lippman Snow White & The Huntsman Set

Hey guys,

So this was a set that I was contemplating for a LONG time, I talked myself out of it more than a few times, yet for some reason I always came back to it, even though there was nothing special about either of the polishes. I have similar polishes to both, yet for some reason as soon as you slap a theme or a movie endorsement on something I WANT IT. I'm so terrible.

So when NPC started putting their DL on sale I figured well now is the time to grab it.

Bird Manicure

Hey guys,

What?! Some nail art?! Yay!
So a couple weeks ago two of my dear friends finally got married (yes I say finally seeing as how they'd been dating for 9 years!) So I decided to do something fun and appropriate for the wedding, well that and Cindy told me that I had to have awesome nails for her wedding or else.
First step was setting out on a quest to find the perfect blue to match her bridesmaids dresses. This perfect blue was Zoya Robyn which I have been looking for an excuse to buy for a while now.
She had birds all over her invitations so obviously I would do a bird.... now okay I tried to make this a sparrow but it looks a bit more like a crow. whoops.

Anyways bottom line: She loved them, even though I broke a nail at the wedding.

For this I used

Orly - Royal Velvet

Hey guys,

So remember when I said Fantasea was probably my last Orly from my BTR haul. I was apparently wrong I have two more to show you. One of them being this beauty.

When you look at this in the bottle it looks duochrome but once you get it on your nail you notice  that it's really just blue shimmer in a royal purple base so it does have a duochrome look to it but the shimmer itself doesn't really have any colour shift to it.
It is on the sheer side so this was three coats, you can see closer to the cuticle where its a bit thinner. This would be a cool colour to layer over something different.

Deborah Lippmann - Forget You

Hey guys,

Alright are you singing it? I see you driving, 'round town with the girl I love, and I'm like...
I love polishes named after songs, it would make me happier if this wasn't named after the clean version of the song but I can see where that would be unfeasible.

Initially this mish mash of random glitter didn't really do anything for me but the more I looked at it the more I decided I liked it. Your best bet is to layer it over a base of black. Did I do that? Of COURSE not, I decided I needed to do this the hard way, The black base is a bit sheer but with the abundance of glitter this builds up quickly. This was three coats but if you apply it a bit thicker you could probably get away with two.
