Cult Nails - Swanbourne

Hey guys,

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, I was at the farm helping move 300 bales of hay. So it was a busy day, and amazingly I managed to make out with only cracking the very tip off of one nail. So I'd say that is a success overall.

Today I have a polish for you that Nicole got from a subscription box. A long time ago I was quite a fan of Cult Nails but after a bit of a snarky comment from the owner I quickly fell out of love, and haven't bought any of her polishes since then. Anyways this was a polish I had always wanted anyways so talk about Serendipity that it would one day show up in my collection by surprise.
This is a dark brown jam packed with gold shimmer. Application was okay, it was a weird combination of runny and goopy. This was two coats.

March Bestie Twin Nails Challenge: Galaxy

Hey guys,

Woo so are you guys ready for Week TWO of Bestie Twin nails?? I was so excited and stoked with the way last week's nails turned out. Part of me was super worried we would wind up with the EXACT same nails. Okay that would have been neat and a little bit scary. I often think that Melissa and I are two halves of the same crazy rainbow and glitter covered coin. Yeah that's right, you heard me.

Anyways it was awesome. So I am very excited for this.
This week's theme was Galaxy nails.

Crappy St. Patrick's Day Manicure

Hey guys,

So I'm actually surprised that I'm getting this up as today has been pretty busy. So if you ask me my last year's St. Patty's day manicure was better. See it here. Like a lot better. I initially wanted to keep things much more simple this year, maybe a french manicure with green tips, or dots or stripes or something nice and simple. Somewhere along the line I abandoned that for this monstrosity. Although on a happier note I did find my KCCO shirt this year and am wearing it right now.

For this I used

piCture pOlish - Mallard
Zoya - Apple
Zoya - Gia
OPI - Atomic Orange
Nails Inc. - Carnaby Street
China Glaze - Starboard
Island Girl - Aloha Girl
Cult Nails - Time Traveler
Rue Beaute - Trifecta

TV Inspired: Duck Dynasty

Hey guys,

Today's manicure is Duck Dynasty okay so I f*cking LOVE this show. The first time I saw the preview I was like wow really? But never do I laugh as hard as I do watching this. I am so in love with the Robertson clan, and honestly one of my favourite things about this show is the respect that the kids show their parents and grandparents. I'm sorry but that kind of respect doesn't happen often these days. Love it, and I really loved getting to hang out with my cousins and just all laugh our asses off this past November during a DD marathon. The new rule is if you don't love it you can just GTFO of our family. BOOM.

Sorry I love it. Now you probably won't see that many American flags from me, not that I have any problem with that at all it just seems weird to be walking around with the stars and stripes on my nails, although This was my Presidents Day manicure so that seemed fitting. So here we have camo and of course one of Willie's bandannas (I couldn't draw a duck to save my life but in hindsight I should have drawn a beard!)

For this I used

OPI - Stranger Tides
China Glaze - Agro
China Glaze - Mahogany Magic
Bed Head - Master Mind
Cult Nails - Time Traveler
Orly Instant Artist in Crisp White & Fiery Red
Essie - Matte About You

TV Inspired: Doctor Who

Hey guys,

Today's manicure is Doctor Who I am a huge Doctor Who fan, and if you follow me on Pinterest or Instagram you'll know this (and obviously if you know me in person) I have a TARDIS bobble buddy on my monitor at work, along with a handmade charging station that I made. The rule is pretty much if it's got anything to do with a Time Lord I'm all over it. Plus I'll never get back all the tears I've cried over that show.

For this manicure I kept it pretty simple, I used a couple DW inspired (or just named) polishes and then I have (half of) the TARDIS, the new logo and then the 11th Doctor's bowtie.

For this I used:
OPI - Dating A Royal
Cult Nails - Time Traveler
Dollish Polish - It's Bigger On The Inside
Bed Head - Master Mind
China Glaze - Mahogany Magic
Orly Instant Artist in True Blue, Jet Black & Crisp White
Quo Instant Artist - Red

So I'd seen saran wrap manis all over the place for a while and finally decided this needed to happen. I loved the way this one turned out. I had a boat load of compliments on this one too. These colours work beautifully together and whats better than a Princess & her Prince Charming??

For this I used

Cult Nails - Charming

Hey guys,

So we have our last Cult Nails day! Well until I acquire come more of them anyways.
I saved one of my favourites for last. This is also from the Cult Fairytale collection.

This is
Cult Nails - Charming

I love this purple so much. I read in one review that a blogger said it reminded them of "bubbles" and actually it really does. It's beautiful and definitely shares my favourite spot with Flushed.

Cult Nails - Princess

Hey guys,

So normally this would wrap up a week of swatching but like I said this was a week plus 1 so tomorrow will mark the last day.

So when I was on my mission to buy Flushed. I discovered that at that time you could only buy it as part of the whole Behind Closed Doors collection which was at a special price. Which considering I only wanted the one polish was more than I wanted to spend. I had to have Flushed though. Free shipping for Cult nails starts at $75. I am a terrible sucker for free shipping. and I only needed $35 more dollars to qualify (I'm such an idiot) So that was at least 3 more polishes. So I found Time Traveler that was easy. From there where did I go? Then I came across the Cult Fairytale collection. You guys know how I feel about Fairytales. Fortunately only 2 of the colours jumped out at me. This is the first one.

To me naming a blue polish Princess seems a bit bizarre but then I think of Cinderella and my world tips back into place. This one is very pretty.

Cult Nails - Time Traveler

Hey guys,

So continuing on in our Cult Nails week I bring you our next polish.
I've been on the hunt for a true TARDIS blue for a while now. I thought I might have found it. While it's not directly labelled as TARDIS blue, veiled references are made in the description.
Alas I continue my search. While gorgeous this is just a bit too dark to be true TARDIS blue.

This is
Cult Nails - Time Traveler

This was a beast to take off it literally got everywhere, but was gorgeous on.

If anyone has come across a perfect TARDIS blue hit the comments PLEASE.

Cult Nails - Disciplined

Hey guys,

We've hit day 5 of our CNSW(+1) yes I'm just going to start abbreviating it now.
We have our very last polish from the Behind Closed Doors collection. Tomorrow we get into the random polishes I picked up.

This is
Cult Nails - Disciplined

This polish actually might have been the biggest surprise in the collection. I wasn't a huge fan of it in the bottle but as soon as I got it on my nails I fell in love with this grey. It's quiet and subtle and I love it.

Cult Nails - Coveted

Hey guys,

Welcome to Day 4 of our Cult nails Swatching week (plus 1 day) today we hit the halfway mark.
I have the second last polish from the Behind Closed Doors collection.

This is
Cult Nails - Coveted

I loved this green, I have nothing like it. I wore this to my kids Christmas party at work last month and my coworker Tracy's daughter Pearl (who is 8 months old) was obsessed with stroking my nails. Which has nothing really to do with anything other thank just being funny.

Cult Nails - Afterglow

Hey guys,

Today is day 3 of Cult Nails Swatching week (plus 1 day).
Today we have the next polish from the Behind Closed Doors collection.
Initially this is another polish I probably would have passed on, but I'm so glad that I didn't and just bought the whole set.

This is
Cult Nails - Afterglow

I loved this colour it's a gorgeous copper that has a slight pink tinge to it that peeks out every once in a while.

Cult Nails - Bitten

Hey guys,

Welcome to Day 2 of our Cult Nails swatch week (plus 1 day)

Today we have another polish from the Behind Closed Doors Collection. This is a polish that had the whole collection not been released together at an introductory price I probably would have skipped out on.

This is
Cult Nails - Bitten

While Bitten is pretty I just feel like there isn't really anything special about it. I love the name though.

Cult Nails - Flushed

Hey guys,

Hope you're having a great Sunday. Right now I'm going to kick off our week of Cult Nails swatches!
I had seen some Cult Nails polishes around on some blogs and hadn't really thought twice or given a second thought to any of them until someone posted a swatch of Flushed on Instagram. Well It was time to join the Cult.

So I hopped online and purchased the whole Behind Closed Doors collection and then 3 extra polishes that I couldn't do without. So without further ado welcome to the week (plus 1 day) of Cult Nails.

This is

from the Behind Closed doors collection. This was my favourite polish from the collection. This colour is just so gorgeous.

My Top 10 of 2012

Hey guys,

So it took me a while to narrow down my top 10 because over the past year I have gone from owning about 20 polishes to close to 350 (I know that's small beans compared to most of the bloggers out there.)

These are in no particular order. (click the name to go to the original post)

A England - Ascalon

Cirque - Dark Horse

Cult Nails - Flushed (swatch post coming soon)

Cult Nails - Charming (swatch post coming soon)

China Glaze - Ruby Pumps

A England - Tristam

OPI - DS Magic

Zoya - Julieanne

Sephora by OPI - Studs & Stilettos

So we can see no creme's made the list, that wasn't intentional clearly nothing blew me away enough to make my list. I think it'll be interesting to see this time next year if any of these are still on my list. Or if the same trends remain.
