Julep - Andrea

Hey guys,

So I had a crazy day. Remember those pyrography signs I was making? Well my friend asked me to make one for her yesterday and since yesterday I have about 20 pending orders. HOLY SCHNIKE! That has more or less been my phrase of the day. My mind is more or less BLOWN. I also received a very special package in the mail today from Supernatural Lacquer, which to many may seem just like normal nail mail, but to me was way more. More on that later.

Today I have a full coverage gold glitter polish to show you guys! I'm fairly certain that this one was given to me by my best friend or it showed up in a mystery box. Honestly who can keep track anymore?
This was two coats.

China Glaze - Teal The Tide Turns

Hey guys,

I hope everyone had a great weekend, I sure did, I got to hang out with some great friends and instead of working on whittling down my tv show queue I decided it was a good time to start watching a couple more shows since I am a glutton for punishment.

I have what I believe is the last Sea Goddess polish to show you today. This one was in the same sort of creamier vein of Sand Dolla Make You Holla. I really liked this one. Again it's a perfect mermaid-y polish.
This was three coats.

Julep - Emerson

Hey guys,

Happy Saturday everyone, it's a beautiful day here and I spent the morning introducing the little girl who lives next door to my horse. And I discovered that Animorphs is on Netflix now and totally geeked out this morning and watched a bunch of it. I swear Netflix is awesome for good 90's tv shows. It just needs Brotherly Love and I'll be set.

A few weeks ago when Julep had their red marker sale (which I still wasn't blown away by) one of the polishes I picked up was this one, it was $2.99 I think, and I have the other two speckled polishes by Julep so it seemed right to round out my collection. This was a bit more sheer than I expected. This was three coats, with a matte top coat since if you ask me all speckled polishes should be matte.

Formula X - Erase & Quench

Hey guys,

So I have some exciting news coming down the pipe for Addicted to Lacquer! Starting this weekend we will finally have a Facebook page! (Click here to visit and Like us!)  AND shortly here (please bear with me as I work out the kinks) we will now be www.addicted-to-lacquer.com exciting! This probably isn't nearly as exciting for you guys as it is for me. I'm nerding out over here.

Today I have something a bit different. So I placed a Sephora order a couple weeks ago and they had a "Manicure Sample" promotion type thing that included a few manicure type samples. One of them was their Formula X cuticle remover "Erase" and their cuticle oil "Quench" So I thought I would test them out since I am HORRIBLE for never using samples. Here we go!

So here were my nails/cuticles/nail beds to start.

So I must say it kind of weirds me out how it talks about needing to stay out of the sun and may increase risk of sunburn.

So I followed the instructions and massaged it into my cuticles then used my cuticle pusher to push them back.

I have to say I didn't notice a whole heck of difference.

Next step was the cuticle oil, seems like your average cuticle oil here, it smelled nice but didn't seem too special or fast absorbing or anything too special.

This was the after.

Honestly I don't know how I feel about this, I'll say straight up that I don't ever see myself spending $17 on cuticle oil seeing as I likely already have enough to last me years. And as far as the cuticle remover goes? I am on the fence I may use it if I had it but am I likely to go out and buy it? Probably not.
What are your guys' thoughts. Do you use a cuticle remover?

China Glaze - Tail Me Something

Hey guys,

So it was super hot today, and of course the weather man was threatening crazy thunderstorms all afternoon. Well it's 8:00 and we have yet to see a storm. Our power did go out earlier, and I am fairly certain that my family is insane, instead of hanging out downstairs where it is nice and cool they're upstairs sweating their faces off. Not that I'm complaining because I love being left alone.

So I can't say the name of this polish without also singing "Tell Me Something Good" in my head or at least humming it. Anyone with me? This was one of my surprise favourites in the Sea Goddess collection. I don't know why I wasn't expecting to love this one like I did but wow, it just seems very mermaid-y to me. This was 2 coats.

China Glaze - Shell We Dance

Hey guys,

So we finally got a new farrier out to the barn today, and he was nice enough to bring his helper who is a TOTAL fox, and apparently he was laughing at my jokes, and I couldn't see a wedding ring so I'll be excited to see him again. I'm going to have to make more of an effort to be around for farrier day.

So when I posted the first Sea Goddess polish I said I wasn't able to get Shell We Dance, but I am a liar. I meant that I wasn't able to get Wish Upon a Starfish. That being said this is the shimmery pink polish in the collection, I believe that Wish Upon A Starfish is brighter, but I wouldn't really know because I couldn't get my hands on it. This was three coats.

Canada Day 2014

Hey guys,

So I am happily home! Finally, not that I didn't love seeing my family, it just threw me off a bit to have my schedule thrown out of whack. I got to spend the whole day yesterday napping and watching Netflix, so all is good.

Every year I try and crank out a Canada Day manicure, I was NOT a fan of last year's but this year I wanted to try something a bit different. I saw this type of variation on the Canadian Flag in a photo Julep posted to their Facebook page and I loved it, Maple leaves can be so effing hard to draw so I figured I'd give this a go.

Happy Canada Day!
