Bestie Twin Nails Challenge: Water Marble

Hey guys,

Oh the dreaded Water marble. I SUCK at watermarbling. No matter how many tutorial videos or step by step Mucking Fusser tutorials I look at I just can't get the hang of it. Bubbles everywhere. That being said this isn't the worst one I have ever done. Water marbles involve the worst most annoying clean up. I seem to always get frustrated with the tape and just wind up vaseline coating my fingers. I give major props to people who can just water marble like it's second nature. Granted if I were to do it more often than once a year maybe I would be a lot better at it. Like the meme says though "ain't nobody got time for that"

March Julep Maven Box

Hey guys,

I have my maven box to show you guys!

This month I got my usual It Girl box but with 3 add ons. I am really loving the Riviera collection. Maybe because it actually reminds me of the French Riviera which is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Or maybe I just love the great spring colors that remind me that "Hey guess what, It's SPRING" (even though as I type this there is still some snow here) It gives me hope.

Yay Saturday, and I am having a Veronica Mars marathon. Jealous? Yes I thought so. Gotta love that sassy blonde private eye.

I have another pretty Sinful Colors polish to show you. This one is a pink glitter topper. THIS WAS SO SPARKLY. I kept staring at at all day. It is full of small holographic glitter and larger pink hexes. I did a bit of dabbing so the hexes wouldn't slide right off the nail.

Hey guys,

I am so excited for the weekend! That week was a weird mix of flying by and crawling. Next weekend my cousin is in town and I can't wait, it is going to be a crazy weekend full of Disney movies, nail painting and a trip to West Edmonton Mall. I can't wait.

So a few weeks ago I was staring at my Zoya drawer and I decided I needed more Zoya's since I love them. So I splurged a bit and ordered about 11-ish I decided to grab this orange PixieDust from the summer collection of PixieDusts. This is a bright tangerine orange. It had a little bit of sheerness to it, if you look closely you can see some VNL. This was two coats.

Personal Accents - "Champagne"

Hey guys,

I'm starting to get pretty dang sick of snow and crummy weather! What I wouldn't just give for some weather and a temperature of something that is above zero. I would even be happy with zero. I don't think that is asking for much.

So this is the last Personal Accent polish I have to show you guys (I think, it wouldn't surprise me if I was wrong) This is a champagne foil. I really liked this one. On it's own it is fairly subtle but imagine this paired with black in a manicure wooo that would be nice.

So my brain feels totally FRIED right now. I blame working out. It feels like someone scooped out my brain and replaced it with jello. So on that note I will probably keep the writing here to a minimum otherwise who knows what amount of jibberish will come out of my brain. Ooh but I will mention this, if you are a Veronica Mars fan make sure you grab the new Veronica Mars book The Thousand Dollar Tanline. It is awesome.

So this is one of the Carrie Underwood polishes from NOPI. The display was pretty picked over by the time I got to it. I wound up getting 2. This is the first one. This is a gold glitter full coverage polish. It winds up drying with a bit of texture even though it's not billed as a texture polish. Normally gold polishes don't do me any favours but I really liked this one.

Hey guys,

So I spent the evening gettin' stuff done. Doesn't that always make you feel like an adult? Especially when it's stuff like getting a new modem and router. Maybe that's just me?

So this was a polish I thought I swatched a long time ago but apparently I didn't this is one of my favourite green polishes. It's a dark green with a hint of shimmer and a bit of a jelly quality to it. It's one of those polishes that is nice and vampy but in a different way than a really dark purple or red. I love it. Because it's a bit sheer, this is three coats.

Bestie Twin Nails Challenge: Animal Print

Hey guys,

So this is the second last week of my team up with Melissa at Claw of Cthulhu. I'm going to miss doing these. I'm sure we will do something again in the future. Maybe we'll mix things up and do it different? Maybe try and create the same manicure? We shall see. Stay tuned for that.

This week was Animal Print! I love animal print, anyone who knows me knows I am OBSESSED with all things zebra print and have done several zebra print manicures. Heck for a while before I started my blog ALL I wore was zebra manicures. I've done tiger print and giraffe print. So I decided to try my hand at something new! Leopard Print! This was inspired by a manicure I saw on IG by @yagala so she gets all the credit for where I got this idea. Her nails are UNREAL.

Island Girl - Oahu Magic

Hey guys,

I'm so not ready for this weekend to end. I don't know about you guys. Right now I would like nothing more than to just sit here on the couch and veg out on an extremely unnecessary amount of salt and vinegar chips, except we don't have any. In my ideal world I would have a pantry stocked full of salt and vinegar chips that are never stale.

This is the last Island Girl polish I have to show you, I reswatched this one because the first was epically horrible. This turned out way better. This is a rainbow glitter topper. The glitter wanted to drag off the nail so I had to employ the "dabbing" technique a bit here.
This is 1 1/2 (The half is the area that needed to be dabbed) coats.

Sinful Colors - Blue By You

Hey guys,

So last night I played poker for the first time in my life and guess what. I SUCKED! In all honesty I just got bored after a while. I don't know how people do that for fun, guess I'm just not a gambler. I was much more into Rayman's Raving Rabbids. It's almost impossible to play that game without dying laughing.

So about a month ago I had to stop at Rexall to buy some hair dye and noticed they had a bunch of polish in a bin for $0.99 so digging through it I decided to grab a couple from a brand I have seen all over but never tried, Sinful Colors. I loved this blue shimmer. So I know Blue Bayou is a song, but I see "Blue By You" everywhere like I know of at least 2 horses on my show circuit with that name. That's really not relevant but I thought it was interesting. Anyways I was actually really impressed with this. The brush wasn't anything special but the formula was pretty good for $0.99. This was two coats.

Hey guys,

So I have exciting news for you guys! The end of the crappy non-lightbox photos has arrived! That's right from now on we have lightbox pictures. Yes I am still working on lighting and technique, but every day I think I figure things out a little bit more.

Today I have the March Birthstone polish from Julep to show you guys. Last month I wasn't too terribly excited that Rosa wouldn't build up like Betty did. Well this month's is a opalescent/iridescent glitter topper that is aquamarine. So right away I knew they weren't trying to make a full collection of full coverage glitters (sad day, cause that would have been awesome) I feel like this is fairly close to Portia, while still different. In the end I do really think this is pretty. This is one coat over Julep - Margaret.

Katy Perry Dark Horse Inspired Manicure

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, I had plans and was busy all night. I didn't even get a chance to change my polish so that should tell you how crazy of a night it was. 

A few weeks ago. My NPBFF pointed out how amazing Katy Perry's nails were in her Dark horse music video. Well of course I hopped right on the Internet and needed to see what she was talking about. Man was she right. She rocks a couple different looks in the video but I really loved the black rimmed blue nails. Of course I forgot to put the white glint on there but in my defense it was hard to tell if that was a real light glint or fake. So whatever. I loved the way these looked.

So let's recover from yesterday's St. Patrick's day disaster with a good old swatch! Although I'm really contemplating redoing a pond manicure soon. THEY JUST LOOK SO COOL! Man I really wish I could dazzle you guys with some great story today, but I really have nothing. This will be short and sweet I guess.

March Bestie Twin Nails Challenge: St. Patrick's Day Manicure

Hey guys,

Alright so week 3 of our March Bestie Twin nails challenge.

Let me preface this by saying this is NOT how I wanted this manicure to turn out. All I wanted was a pretty Pond manicure using shamrock. Slight problem... I don't really own a green jelly, and there in lies my failure. 

I will have to retry doing a pond manicure with a real jelly polish. This wasn't cutting it.

So for the second year in a row here is my sub-par St. Patrick's day manicure

Supernatural Lacquer - Fight The Fairies!

Hey guys,

So yesterday I decided to get to work on my Netflix queue a little bit, finally watched Wuthering Heights with Tom Hardy in it. First off, after watching a really crappy thriller where sexy Colin O'Donoghue gets his face eaten by an alien (if it wasn't the end of the movie I would have just shut it off there because really, there was no other reason to watch it) I felt very cultured watching Wuthering Heights. Second, Tom Hardy is a FOX. 

Today I have a great polish from Supernatural Lacquer to show you guys, you know how I feel about white based crelly glitter polishes. ALL THE LOVE! This one is perfect for St. Patrick's Day if you're feeling more sassy than straight green polish and too lazy to bang out some crazy nail art.

This was 4 thin coats. The stars took some fishing but nothing bad!

You could get away with one or two coats if you layered it over white but I love the built up look.

Hey guys,

So Monday is St. Patrick's Day, which means there is lots of AWESOME nail art coming up. I have already seen a whack of awesome manicures on IG. Of course I will post my Bestie Twin St. Patrick's Day manicure on Monday, and tomorrow I have an awesome polish that's also very appropriate for St. Paddy's day.

I often get asked what I use to do my nail art. Now I definitely don't claim to be amazing at nail art, but I like doing it and every once in a while I'm fully surprised at the outcome. So today I thought I would share them with you, along with a link with some great tips for nail art beginners.
